It provides a 120 VAC / 240 VAC rated voltage supply within an operating window of 74 to 265 VAC at 47-63 Hz. The sustained output current for each point is specified at 2 A @ 30 °C (86 °F) linear derating and 1 A @ 60 °C (140 °F) linear derating.

The 1756-OA16I features an open-style enclosure with a T4A temperature code designation, allowing it to be directly mounted into any standard 1756 chassis (including models such as the 1756-A4, 1756-A7, 1756-A10, 1756-A13, and 1756-A17). The module can be deployed in a local chassis alongside ControlLogix controllers, or extended to a remote I/O rack by utilizing a 1756 communication adapter.

To provide secure and stable wiring connections to the external electrical loads, the module must be paired with a Removable Terminal Block (RTB). Compatible terminal block models include the 1756-TBCH (cage-clamp terminal) or the 1756-TBS6H (spring-clamp terminal), and the RTB keying is user-defined.
