Overview Manuals Common Applications Product Precautions
The CA134 144-134-000-612 is a premium, high-temperature piezoelectric accelerometer by Meggitt Vibro-Meter, engineered to deliver ultra-reliable, continuous vibration monitoring for critical gas turbines and industrial machinery in harsh environments.
    • Ex certified for use in hazardous areas (potentially explosive atmospheres)
    • Hermetically welded high-temperature nickel alloy case
    • Symmetrical sensor with internal case insulation and differential output
The CA134 is a high-temperature piezoelectric accelerometer from Parker Meggitt’s vibro-meter product line. The CA134 sensor features a compression-mode measuring element with internal case insulation in a high-temperature nickel alloy case (housing).

The CA134 is available as a sensor only or fitted with an integral mineral-insulated (MI) cable that is protected by a double braid and terminated with a vibro-meter high-temperature connector. The sensor and cable are hermetically welded to produce a sealed leaktight assembly. The sensor only version allows different cable assemblies to be used depending on the  environmental/temperature requirements of the application.

All versions of the CA134 are Ex certified for installation in potentially explosive atmospheres (hazardous areas). The piezoelectric material used and the design of the CA134 ensures an extremely stable and reliable device that is suitable for the long-term monitoring and measurement of vibration over wide temperature ranges in severe environments, such as gas turbines or cryogenic applications.

When installing and using the CA134 144-134-000-612 accelerometer, technicians must strictly adhere to the recommended torque specifications when securing the mounting bolts to ensure accurate high-frequency charge transmission. Because the sensor outputs a weak, high-impedance charge signal, the integrated mineral-insulated cable must be routed with fixed structural clamps to prevent triboelectric noise from mechanical rubbing.

Furthermore, operators must maintain absolute cleanliness and dryness at the cable termination connectors, using high-temperature sealing compounds where necessary, to prevent moisture ingress from degrading the insulation resistance and causing signal drift.

Technical notes

Technical notes

The Vibro Meter CA134 144-134-000-612 is an industrial-grade passive piezo-electric accelerometer with a built-in VC2 type single crystal element and an integrated mineral-insulated cable. This device utilizes a hermetic high-frequency welding process and an internally insulated stainless steel housing structure, providing a nominal charge sensitivity of 10 pC/g and supporting dynamic vibration data acquisition across a frequency band from 0.5 Hz to 6000 Hz up to a maximum limit of 500 g peak. The hardware meets ATEX and IECEx intrinsic safety explosion-proof standards, allowing continuous and uninterrupted operation in extreme temperature environments from minus 54 degrees Celsius to plus 500 degrees Celsius. The weak charge signal outputs through the attached dual-layer metal braided protective cable to work alongside back-end IPC707 charge modulators, finding widespread use in high-temperature bearing vibration monitoring for gas turbines, steam turbines, and cryogenic pumps.
