In terms of construction, the 8 mm probe tip is manufactured from polyphenylene sulfide (PPS), a specialized plastic capable of withstanding unusually harsh, wet, and/or chemical environments.

A complete 7200 monitoring loop consists of this probe, an extension cable, and a Proximitor sensor, sharing full compatibility with the 3300 and 9000 Monitoring Systems.For enhanced resistance to physical abuse, the probe comes with a 1.0-meter (approx. 3.3 feet) integral lead cable protected by stainless steel armor and terminated with a standard miniature coaxial connector. The combination of this probe lead and an extension cable is engineered to achieve a total system length of either 5 or 9 meters from probe tip to the Proximitor. Probes and cables of the same system length are completely interchangeable.

Furthermore, a three-conductor, shielded cable carries the voltage signal and power input between the 7200 Proximitor and Bently Nevada monitors, allowing the Proximitor to be located up to 1,000 feet from standard monitors without signal degradation. The transducer system also holds hazardous area safety certifications from CSA, BASEEFA, and FM for compliant installation in classified operational environments.
