The 330101-00-70-10-02-05 is an industrial-grade 3300 XL 8 mm eddy current proximity probe. Serving as the core front-end sensing component of the 3300 XL 8 mm proximity transducer system, it is widely utilized for monitoring shaft vibration, axial position, speed, and Keyphasor references on large rotating machinery, including steam turbines, compressors, pumps, and fans.
One 3300 XL 8 mm probe
One 3300 XL extension cable
One 3300 XL Proximitor Sensor
The 330101 series probe forms a key component of the 3300 XL 8 mm proximity transducer system. The system provides an output voltage that is directly proportional to the distance between the probe tip and the observed conductive surface, allowing the measurement of both static (position) and dynamic (vibration) values. The primary applications include vibration and position measurements on fluid-film bearing machines, as well as Keyphasor reference and speed measurements.
The 3300 XL 8 mm system delivers advanced performance in eddy current proximity transducer technology. The standard 5-meter system fully complies with the American Petroleum Institute’s (API) 670 Standard for mechanical configuration, linear range, accuracy, and temperature stability.
All 3300 XL 8 mm proximity transducer systems provide this level of performance and support complete interchangeability of probes, extension cables, and Proximitor sensors, eliminating the need to match or bench calibrate individual components. Each 3300 XL 8 mm Transducer System component is backward compatible and interchangeable with other non-XL 3300 series 5 mm and 8 mm transducer system components. This compatibility includes the 3300 5 mm probe, for applications in which an 8 mm probe is too large for the available mounting space.

Pair the probe with a 3300 XL Proximitor and extension cable configured for a 5-meter or 9-meter system to guarantee measurement accuracy. Adjust the initial gap precisely via voltage output (typically -10 Vdc) during installation to prevent physical contact between the probe tip and the shaft surface. Secure the ClickLoc connector until it clicks and apply insulating tubing to avoid ground interference. Maintain a cable bend radius above 25.4 mm during routing and prevent friction against sharp metal edges.
This model features a fully threaded 3/8-24 UNF housing with a length of 7.0 inches, a 1.0-meter integral cable, a ClickLoc coaxial connector, and intrinsically safe hazardous area certifications. It delivers a 2.0 mm linear measuring range under operating temperatures from -51°C to +177°C, converting gap variations into proportional voltage signals for asset condition monitoring when matched with the appropriate extension cable and Proximitor sensor lengths.
It is a non-contact eddy current proximity probe belonging to the 3300 XL 8mm series, featuring a 3/8-24 UNF thread, a 7.0-inch overall case length, a 1.0-meter integral cable, and intrinsically safe hazardous area certifications.
What is the primary purpose of using the 330101-00-70-10-02-05?
It is used to measure the static distance (displacement) and dynamic distance (vibration) between the probe tip and the rotating machine shaft for asset protection.
How do you correctly install and position the 330101-00-70-10-02-05?
Thread the probe into the mounting bracket or machine housing, and adjust the physical gap using a voltmeter until the output voltage reaches the -10 VDC center of the linear range.
What is the linear measuring range of the 330101-00-70-10-02-05?
The standard linear measuring range is 2.0 millimeters (80 mils), typically starting at 0.25 millimeters (10 mils) from the probe tip.
What is the scale factor or sensitivity of the 330101-00-70-10-02-05?
The standard scale factor is 7.87 V/mm (200 mV/mil) when calibrated against a standard AISI 4140 steel target.
