The 1746-P4 is a rack-mount AC power supply for the SLC 500 programmable controller platform. It converts 85–132 VAC or 170–265 VAC, 47–63 Hz input power into regulated DC voltages required by the SLC 500 backplane, supplying operating power for the processor, communication modules, and I/O modules installed within the chassis. The power supply provides 10.0 A at 5 VDC and 2.88 A at 24 VDC to the backplane, making it suitable for SLC 500 applications with higher power requirements. It also includes an isolated 24 VDC user power output for powering external sensors and field devices.

The 1746-P4 installs directly in the leftmost position of a 1746 SLC chassis, where it distributes regulated power through the backplane to all installed modules. The unit incorporates selectable input voltage operation, integrated overload protection, chassis grounding provisions, and LED power indication to support commissioning and maintenance. A dedicated user power output connects external DC devices while maintaining electrical isolation from the controller backplane. The power supply installs inside industrial control panels and complies with the wiring and grounding requirements specified for the SLC 500 platform.
