The 1756-PB72 is a standard direct current (DC) power supply module that belongs to the ControlLogix 1756 product series. This hardware is installed in the dedicated power supply slot on the left side of a ControlLogix chassis to convert external DC input into various regulated low-voltage power sources required by the backplane bus, supplying power to controllers, communication modules, and I/O modules within the same chassis. Its nominal input voltage is 24V DC, with an acceptable input voltage range of 18 to 32V DC.
All regulated voltages necessary for any ControlLogix® module to operate in the chassis
Limited hold-up time for fluctuations in incoming line power
Enables orderly system shutdown by signaling modules in the chassis of imminent voltage failure
This power supply module includes input voltage monitoring circuitry, built-in energy-storage capacitors, overcurrent protection mechanisms, and a front status indicator. In terms of electrical output structure, it contains backplane current output channels for 1.2V DC (1.5 A), 3.3V DC (4 A), 5.1V DC (10 A), and 24V DC (2.8 A). Its physical configuration includes a screw terminal block for connecting external power supply wires, and it is built as an open-style hardware enclosure.
This power supply module includes CE, c-UL-us, UKCA, and hazardous location certifications such as ATEX and IECEx. Its operating temperature ranges from 0 to 60 °C, and the product line includes the standard version as well as the 1756-PB72K version, which features a conformal coating on the circuit board for corrosion resistance.
