The T8270 is a 24 Vdc rack-mounted fan tray assembly comprising four fans mounted vertically at the rear of a 2U high chassis. The chassis incorporates an internal baffle to prevent air drawn by the fans flowing through the module chassis located immediately above the assembly. Air exhausted into the rear of the system cabinet is drawn upwards and out of the enclosure by roof-mounted ventilation units.

The power configuration utilizes dual 24 Vdc supplies where the fans are powered in pairs via 250 mA anti-surge fuses and the 0 V return link connects to terminal block TB1. Each individual fan displaces 69 cubic meters of air per hour when operating at a nominal rotor speed of 3100 rpm. Electronic protection sub-circuits provide reverse polarity and electrical overload shutdown for each fan unit. Regarding the system electrical interconnection layout, the main supply derives from a T8292 power distribution unit miniature circuit breaker via a TC-011-01 fan power cable. A single T8292 miniature circuit breaker accommodates a maximum configuration of five fan tray assemblies or a combined configuration including a roof fan unit.

T8270 executes forced convection thermal management within the Trusted module chassis. The steel enclosure utilizes a standard 19-inch rack-mount horizontal profile secured directly to the vertical mounting rails of the system cabinet via fastening bolt holes on both sides of the front panel. The four vertically arranged brushless DC fans connect via hardware pins to internal open-collector fault monitoring circuitry. This monitoring network continuously samples the physical rotational velocity of each rotor. When any single fan experiences a mechanical stall or bearing wear causing the velocity to drop below the rated threshold value, the fault circuit automatically activates a red LED indicator on the front panel and transmits a discrete alarm dataset to the host safety controller via base auxiliary signal contacts.
