The FC-RUSLS-3224 is a high-density, remote universal safe Input/Output (I/O) module designed for Safety Manager systems. It features 32 highly configurable channels that can be deployed in both non-redundant and high-availability redundant architectures to meet stringent functional safety requirements.
Install a single FC-RUSLS-3224 module on a non-redundant IOTA for 32 standalone safe channels
Pair two FC-RUSLS-3224 modules on a single redundant IOTA to establish 32 fully redundant safe I/O channels
All 32 channels operate as 24VDC sourcing ("active") loops
This module enables simplified field direct wiring via screw positions on the IOTA where positions 1+ through 32+ serve as signal lines and positions 1- through 32- link directly to the 0VDC supply. It completely eliminates the need for extra termination hardware because all 32 channels function as 24VDC active sourcing loops. Every single channel can be independently configured as either a safe digital output or a line-monitored safe digital input.
When set to the input mode, the channel utilizes an internal 250 Ohm resistor and an electronic current limiter. This configuration works with two external field resistors which must be wired in parallel for normally closed contacts or in series for normally open contacts. This design delivers continuous loop monitoring and immediately triggers system warnings upon detecting any lead-breakage or short circuits in the field wiring.

Oil and Gas Refining
Processes real-time data from high-temperature and high-pressure sensors to trigger automated safety valves during distillation or catalytic cracking anomalies.
Offshore Drilling Platforms
Monitored digital input (DI) channels collect data from optical flame detectors and toxic gas sensors to automatically deploy fire suppression loops.
Petrochemical Processing
Utilizes line-monitored inputs to continuously verify emergency vent valve status and execute immediate nitrogen purging if temperatures cross safety margins.
Natural Gas Pipelines
Safely monitors upstream pipeline pressures and commands fast-acting isolation valves to close within milliseconds to prevent pipeline over-pressurization.
Thermal Power Generation
Monitors boiler furnace flame scanners and fuel feed positions, triggering an immediate trip of the fuel supply lines upon detecting a flame failure condition.
Nuclear Power Stations
Evaluates interlock logic for secondary backup containment cooling loops and ventilation isolation barriers under high-reliability industrial constraints.
Live hot swapping is permitted only under a dual module redundant configuration, and power must be completely turned off before replacement in non redundant operation. To ensure line monitoring functions correctly, all field digital inputs must have resistor networks properly connected in series for normally open contacts or in parallel for normally closed contacts close to the switches. Additionally, user should regularly monitor the internal electronics temperature via software and maintain proper cabinet ventilation to prevent system false alarms or shutdowns caused by overheating.

Technical notes
Technical notes
A 32-channel 24V DC universal safe logic solver module for the Safety Manager system. Mounted on an IOTA in single or redundant pairs, it establishes SIL 3 compliant safety loops. It features software-configurable channels with hardware-level line monitoring for open and short circuits, communicates with the main controller via dual 100Mbaud Ethernet links, includes a built-in 1ms resolution SOE clock, and supports secure online upgrades of software and configurations without interrupting active production.
It is a Remote Universal Safe Logic Solver module with 32 universal safe input/output channels, belonging to the Honeywell Safety Manager system.
How to use the FC-RUSLS-3224 module correctly?
It must first be mounted onto a dedicated IOTA, and then configured via Safety Builder software for line monitoring, signal definitions, and localized logic function setup.
What signal types can be configured on FC-RUSLS-3224?
Each of its channels can be flexibly defined via software configuration as a 24V DC sourcing input (Digital Input/Analog Input) or output (Digital Output/Analog Output).
What is the use of the Line-monitoring function on FC-RUSLS-3224?
When a channel is configured as a digital input, this function automatically detects line-breakage or short circuits in the external cables via field resistors and triggers a warning.
How to achieve a redundant configuration for FC-RUSLS-3224?
Two identical modules must be plugged onto a single redundant IOTA simultaneously to establish 32 high-availability redundant safe IO channels.
