Overview Manuals Common Applications Product Precautions
The 146054-010-20-02-05 is a high-end non-contact eddy current proximity probe belonging to the 3300 XL 50mm transducer series. This product meets the requirements of extremely harsh industrial environments, featuring a composite structure of a high-purity alumina ceramic cap and a 304 stainless steel case. It provides long-life asset protection and condition monitoring solutions for critical rotating machinery under large displacement, strong chemical corrosion, high erosion, or high-pressure operating conditions.
    • Superior Corrosion and Erosion Resistance
    • Ultra-Wide Linear Measurement Range for Large-Stroke Monitoring
    • Strict Compliance with API 670 and Seamless System Compatibility
The 146054-010-20-02-05 Ceramic Capped Probe is a state-of-the-art solution for monitoring machinery in aggressive chemical or high-pressure environments. The alumina cap and 304 stainless steel probe case provide robust protection and increased life for applications in anhydrous ammonia or other extreme pH environments. This ceramic capped probe is fully compatible with the 3300 Proximitor Sensor and extension cable.

The 146054 probe assembly was specifically developed for applications that expose only the front of the probe case assembly to corrosive gases and liquids. These ceramic probe assemblies prevent corrosive gases and liquids from entering the front end of the probe case.

Unlike the 146056 series, the 146054-010-20-02-05 probe does not have a rear fitting or stainless steel tube, meaning the rear of the probe is NOT sealed. You must not expose the rear of this probe to destructive environments such as water, NH3, NH4OH, hydrogen sulfide, etc. Ensure only the front ceramic tip is exposed to the process media.

Oil & Gas Extraction and Pipelines
Monitoring shaft vibration and axial displacement of gas turbines and centrifugal compressors in pipeline compressor stations to prevent pipeline leaks or shutdowns due to equipment failure.

Petrochemical and Refining Industry
Due to corrosive gases, the ceramic probe monitors hydrocracking compressors and large high-pressure pumps to ensure intrinsic safety in harsh chemical environments.

Thermal Power Generation
Monitoring shaft vibration, thermal expansion, and axial differential expansion of large steam turbines and generators to ensure stable grid operation.

Nuclear Power Generation
Applied to main feedwater pumps, turbine-generator sets, and cooling circulation pumps outside the nuclear island for high-reliability predictive maintenance.

Iron and Steel / Metallurgy Industry
Monitoring vibration and bearing wear of heavy-duty rotating machinery such as blast furnace blowers, large exhaust fans, and rolling mill main drive trains.

Mining and Mineral Processing
In dusty and abrasive environments, monitoring bearing displacement and vibration of large ball mills, crushers, and heavy-duty conveyor drives.
When using the 146054-010-20-02-05 probe, it is strictly forbidden to hit or bump its ceramic cap to prevent cracking. It must be paired exclusively with a 3300 XL 5mm/8mm Proximitor and configured for a 2.0-meter total system length (note that the probe has an integral 2.0m cable and cannot connect directly; it requires a matching extension cable with a Threadlock connector to meet system constraints).

During installation, the initial gap must be precisely set using a feeler gauge or voltage method (calibrated to the center voltage, typically around -10V). Ensure the target material is 4140 AISI steel to maintain calibration linearity, and strictly adhere to explosion-proof and anti-static standards.

FAQS

  • What type of product is 146054-010-20-02-05?
This is a 3300 XL series 50 mm (50mm) large-scale non-contact eddy current proximity probe manufactured by Bently Nevada.
  • What is the primary application of 146054-010-20-02-05?
It is designed for applications requiring a large linear measurement range, primarily used for differential expansion (relative thermal growth between casing and rotor) and large-displacement axial thrust monitoring in massive steam or gas turbines.
  • What is the operating principle of 146054-010-20-02-05?
It operates on the eddy current principle. High-frequency coils at the probe tip generate an alternating magnetic field. When a metallic target approaches, it creates eddy currents causing loss changes, which the Proximitor converts into a voltage signal proportional to the distance.
  • What is the standard system sensitivity of 146054-010-20-02-05?
When used with its designated Proximitor, its calibrated sensitivity is typically 0.394 V/mm (10 mV/mil).
  • How to correctly install and use 146054-010-20-02-05?
To correctly install and use the 146054-010-20-02-05 proximity probe, mount it via the 3/8-24 UNF threads and adjust the mechanical gap until the output voltage reaches the -10 VDC linear center. Ensure only the ceramic tip is exposed to the high-pressure corrosive media, and connect it to a compatible 3300/3300 XL 5mm Proximitor sensor system configured for the 2.0-meter cable length.
