Product Describe:
3300 XL 25 mm Proximitor Sensor
Designed for large-scale rotating machinery
specifically for Differential Expansion (DE)
and shaft vibration/position monitoring
The 330850-90-05 is a large-range 25 mm eddy current Proximitor Sensor within the Bently Nevada 3300 XL series. This Proximitor sensor uses a panel mount configuration to match an eddy current transducer system with a 9.0-meter total length, and has obtained multiple country/agency safety and explosion-proof approvals (-05 option). It is utilized as the core signal processing unit for monitoring Differential Expansion (DE), rotor position, and large-amplitude vibration in large rotating machinery such as steam turbine generator sets.

High-Temperature Resistance
When paired with the 3300 XL 25 mm probe, the system delivers high survivability in the harshest steam turbine DE environments. The system components continually operate and maintain measurement accuracy under high temperatures up to 200 °C (392 °F), and withstand intermittent high temperatures up to 250 °C (482 °F). To prevent moisture and oil from entering the probe tip, the matching 25 mm probe features both a front and rear seal, combined with a standard FluidLoc cable.
The 3300 XL 25 mm Transducer System consists of a separate 25 mm probe, an extension cable, and a 3300 XL 25 mm Proximitor Sensor. The 0.787 V/mm (20 mV/mil) output gives this system a linear range of 12.7 mm (500 mils). Based on this linear range, the 3300 XL 25 mm Transducer System is suitable for measuring differential expansion (DE) on mid size to large steam turbine generators caused by the difference in growth rates between the turbine rotor and the machine stator (casing).

Nuclear Power
Providing high-reliability displacement monitoring in circulating water pumps and auxiliary turbines for safety-grade requirements.
Pulp & Paper
Monitoring axial bearing wear in large pulpers and dryer section drive systems.
Marine & Shipping
Monitoring the axial thrust position of main propulsion propeller shafts to prevent damage to the propulsion system in rough seas.
Oil & Gas
Monitoring axial displacement in large centrifugal compressors, especially to prevent thrust bearing failure under high-pressure differentials.
Power Generation
Monitoring Differential Expansion in large steam turbines and generators to measure relative thermal growth between the rotor and casing.
Petrochemicall
Monitoring the axial position and low-frequency vibration of critical "Three-Train" compressors, such as ethylene cracked gas compressors.
The minimum target diameter must be larger than that of an 8mm probe. If the target surface is too small, the magnetic field will "spill over," causing non-linear readings.Maintain adequate side clearance when mounting in a counterbore. Probes must also be spaced apart to prevent cross-talk (interference between adjacent magnetic fields). The probe must be used with a matching 11mm Proximitor. Connecting it to an 8mm Proximitor will result in an incorrect scale factor, leading to inaccurate data.

What type of wiring terminals does the 330850-90-05 use?
It features SpringLoc terminal strips, enabling fast and secure field electrical wiring without the need for special tools.
How to properly use or install the 330850-90-05?
Install it on a bracket pointing at the shaft. Monitor the output voltage with a multimeter and adjust the gap until the voltage reaches the linear midpoint (e.g., approx -10V DC), then tighten the locknut.
What equipment is required to work with the 330850-90-05?
It must be connected to a 3300 XL Proximitor and an extension cable, eventually feeding into a 3500 or 3300 monitoring system.
