The hardware measures static as well as dynamic distances between the probe tip and the observed target, supporting requirements for non-contacting displacement measurement. The application includes shaft position and vibration measurements on rotating and reciprocating machinery, including generators.

The system offers a linear measuring range of 2.0 mm (80 mils) and complies with API 670 requirements. The overall configuration consists of a probe with an integral coaxial cable, an extension cable, and a 7200 Proximitor Sensor. The 7200 proximity transducer systems integrate with the 3300 and 9000 monitoring systems.

The 21501-00-16-05-02 probe features an AISI 303 stainless steel case and a polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) tip to resist industrial oil and chemical exposure. This configuration utilizes a 1/4-28 UNF thread with a 0 mm unthreaded length and a 1.6-inch case length, paired with a 0.5-meter total cable length and a miniature coaxial connector. The hardware operates within a temperature range of -34°C to +177°C, maintaining stability under high-vibration conditions.

Tighten the retaining nut within limits to prevent case deformation, and maintain adequate side clearance around the tip to prevent adjacent metal from causing measurement errors.
