Overview Manuals Common Applications Product Precautions
The 146054-12-05-02-05 is typically the model code for a sensor cable or accessory manufactured by Bently Nevada. This product is primarily used in industrial vibration monitoring systems, commonly found in systems of large rotating machinery such as steam turbines, fans, and compressors.
    • Extreme Chemical Resistance
    • Seamless System Compatibility
    • ClickLoc Connectivity Technology
The 3300 Ceramic Capped Probe is a state-of-the-art solution for monitoring machinery in aggressive chemical or high-pressure environments. The alumina cap and 304 stainless steel probe case provide robust protection and increased life for applications in anhydrous ammonia or other extreme pH environments. The ceramic capped probe is compatible with the 3300 Proximitor Sensor and extension cable. The 146054, 146055, and 164517 probes were developed for applications that expose only the front of the probe case assembly to corrosive gases and liquids. These ceramic probe assemblies prevent corrosive gases and liquids from entering the front end of the probe case. We leak test the front-end ceramic to metal interface with helium to ensure a hermetic seal. These probes do not have a rear fitting or stainless steel tube, so that the rear of the probes are not sealed. You must not expose the rear of these probes to destructive environments such as water, NH3, NH4OH, hydrogen sulfide, etc.

Petroleum Refining
Monitors radial vibration of high-pressure centrifugal pumps in hydrocracking units, ensuring stability under high-temperature and high-pressure oil/gas conditions.

Chemical Processing
Installed on reactor agitators handling strong acids or bases to monitor bearing wear; the ceramic material prevents severe chemical corrosion.

Nuclear Power Plants
Monitors the axial position of main feedwater pumps. Its high-pressure rating allows reliable operation in the high-pressure water environment of the secondary circuit.

Pulp and Paper
Monitors refiners and pulp presses. The ceramic tip withstands strong alkaline corrosive media like black liquor produced during pulping.

Steel Manufacturing
Installed on blast furnace blowers. Monitors rotor vibration to prevent catastrophic failures caused by high-temperature airflow and heavy vibrations.

When using the 146054-12-05-02-05 ceramic-capped probe, the critical precaution is protecting its vulnerable "rear end" while ensuring precise "front end" installation. Although the ceramic tip is designed to withstand high pressure and corrosion at the front, the connector and cable interface are not hermetically sealed; they must never be exposed to corrosive liquids or ammonia, which can cause signal drift or short circuits. During installation, strictly follow the torque specifications for the 3/8-24 threads to avoid fracturing the ceramic tip, and ensure the initial gap between the probe and target is calibrated via the Proximitor voltage (typically around -9VDC) to maintain measurement linearity.

FAQS

  • What is the 146054-12-05-02-05?
It is a Bently Nevada 3300 series ceramic-capped proximity probe designed for monitoring vibration and displacement in rotating machinery.
  • How to properly install the 146054-12-05-02-05?
