The 330180-51-05 is a 3300 XL proximity sensor preamplifier from Bentley, USA. It is primarily used in high-precision vibration monitoring systems in industrial environments, working in conjunction with eddy current probes and extension cables to measure shaft vibration and displacement in rotating machinery.
One 3300 XL 8 mm probe
One 3300 XL extension cable
One 3300 XL Proximitor Sensor
The 3300 XL 8 mm system delivers the most advanced performance in our eddy current proximity transducer systems. The standard 3300 XL 8 mm 5-meter system also fully complies with the American Petroleum Institute’s (API) 670 Standard for mechanical configuration, linear range, accuracy, and temperature stability. All 3300 XL 8 mm proximity transducer systems provide this level of performance and support complete interchangeability of probes, extension cables, and Proximitor sensors, eliminating the need to match or bench calibrate individual components. Each 3300 XL 8 mm Transducer System component is backward compatible and interchangeable with other non XL 3300 series 5 mm and 8 mm transducer system components. This compatibility includes the 3300 5 mm probe, for applications in which an 8 mm probe is too large for the available mounting space.

Thermal Power
The 330180-51-05 tracks high-speed rotor shaft vibration and axial displacement under extreme thermal loads to trigger early warnings before blade-to-casing rub occurs.
Oil & Gas
Measures oil film thickness and rotor dynamic stability in hazardous environments, communicating telemetry directly to the ESD system to prevent volatile fluid leaks.
Petrochemical Processing
Provides continuous non-contact displacement monitoring on massive overhung shafts, preventing catastrophic impeller failures during highly exothermic reaction cycles.
Nuclear Power
Delivers high-reliability radial vibration data to safety-instrumented systems, ensuring the integrity of critical coolant circulation loops.
Steel & Metallurgy Mills
Operates under extreme electromagnetic interference (EMI) to monitor critical shaft eccentricity and mechanical loose parts in heavy-duty raw material processing systems.
Before handling or maintaining the Bently Nevada 330180-51-05, always power down the monitoring rack to ensure secure terminal connections and proper shield grounding, preventing high-frequency electromagnetic interference (EMI) from causing signal spikes. This Proximitor sensor requires strict impedance matching and is calibrated exclusively for a specific total electrical length—this model is engineered strictly for a 5.0-meter system—meaning cables must never be cut, spliced, or interchanged with different system lengths. During field installation, technicians must use a multimeter to precisely adjust the mechanical gap until the bias voltage reads around the linear midpoint of -10V DC. Lastly, ensure the module is securely snapped onto the 35mm standard DIN rail, and keep the control enclosure dry and completely free of conductive metallic dust.
The 330180-51-05 is a Proximitor Sensor from Bently Nevada's 3300 XL series, primarily used to measure shaft vibration, displacement, and rotational speed of rotating machinery.
How should the 330180-51-05 be used in an application?
It cannot operate independently. It must be paired with a 3300 or 3300 XL series eddy current probe (5 mm or 8 mm) and an extension cable to form a complete three-part proximity transducer system.
What is the core operating principle of the 330180-51-05?
The Proximitor supplies a high-frequency electrical signal to the probe, creating an alternating electromagnetic field at the tip. When a conductive metal surface approaches, the Proximitor senses the impedance change and outputs a linear DC voltage proportional to the gap distance (typically under a -24V DC power supply).
Which industrial equipment is the 330180-51-05 suitable for measuring?
It is extensively used for the machinery condition monitoring of high-speed rotating equipment with fluid-film bearings, such as steam turbines, compressors, large pumps, fans, and electric motors.
What are its operating ambient temperature limits?
Equipped with highly stable internal electronics, this Proximitor sensor has an operating temperature range of -51°C to +100°C, allowing it to withstand extreme factory plant climates.
