This intelligent I/O module resides in the SLC 500 chassis and provides high-speed counting independent of the processor scan time, interfacing directly with incremental encoders or high-speed pulse sources.

All power to the chassis must be removed before inserting or removing the module to prevent damage to the backplane circuitry or the module's 16-bit counter logic.
