The 1503VC-BMC5-MC1 is an IntelliVAC Intelligent Medium Voltage Contactor Control Module manufactured by Allen-Bradley (Rockwell Automation). Primarily integrated within CENTERLINE 1500 Motor Control Centers (MCC), it utilizes core technologies such as "Intelligent Coil Management" and "Voltage Ride-through" to effectively reduce power consumption and thermal loss while ensuring continuous operation during power fluctuations.
Automatically optimize coil current
Undervoltage ride-through capability
Control multiple contactors with a single module
An IntelliVAC control module can be used to control Bulletin 1502 450 and 800 A medium voltage vacuum contactors. Both electrically held and mechanically latched contactor types can be controlled with IntelliVAC control modules. The Allen-Bradley Bulletin 1503VC IntelliVAC controller (1503VC-BMC5) offers a superior, efficient, and flexible means of controlling Bulletin 1502 vacuum contactors. The IntelliVAC controller offers a scalable solution for multiple medium voltage control applications. A wire harness for 1502 vacuum contactors is generally required.IntelliVAC provides basic control capabilities for 450 A and 800 A contactors (electrically held and mechanical latch) using a single device. It offers enhanced reliability through better diagnostics and coordination between the power fuses and the vacuum contactor drop-out time. Productivity is improved using the power loss ride through (TDUV) and contactor re-closing control features.

When using the 1503VC-BMC5-MC1, it is critical to ensure the stability of the control power supply (110-240V AC) and the correct configuration of DIP switches for altitude compensation and undervoltage trip delays. Additionally, the use of a dedicated Bulletin 1502 wire harness is mandatory, and the coil health should be monitored regularly via the LED diagnostic indicators. Never perform wiring while the unit is energized to prevent damage to the sensitive intelligent control circuitry.
It is an IntelliVAC Contactor Control Module manufactured by Allen-Bradley (Rockwell Automation).
Which series does 1503VC-BMC5-MC1 belong to?
It belongs to the Bulletin 1503 series and is a core component within the CENTERLINE 1500 Medium Voltage Motor Control Centers (MCC).
What is the primary function of 1503VC-BMC5-MC1?
Its main role is to control the closing and holding of vacuum contactors while providing undervoltage protection, status monitoring, and fault diagnostics.
How do you use 1503VC-BMC5-MC1?
It is mounted in the low-voltage wireway of a control cabinet. You connect the control power (110-240V AC) and the contactor coils to its terminals, then trigger it via start/stop input signals.
How does 1503VC-BMC5-MC1 differ from a standard relay?
It features intelligent control technology that optimizes energy for the coils to reduce heat and includes LED indicators to display specific fault codes, which a standard relay cannot do.
