The VM600 MPC4 200-510-070-112 is an industrial machinery protection card used in the VM600 series rack-based machinery monitoring system. It functions as a processing module that accepts dynamic signals from vibration, displacement, and pressure sensors to provide continuous, real-time safety monitoring and automated trip protection for rotating machinery.
Real-time measurement and monitoring using state-of-the-art DSP techniques
Programmable broad-band and narrow-band filters
Simultaneous amplitude and phase monitoring in order-tracking mode
The MPC4 machinery protection card functions as a processing module within the VM600 series machinery protection system from the Vibro-Meter product line. This module measures and monitors up to four dynamic signal inputs and up to two speed inputs simultaneously. It operates as an independent subsystem to provide real-time protection for rotating industrial equipment.
The dynamic signal inputs accept inputs representing acceleration, velocity, and displacement from proximity probes, accelerometers, or velocity transducers. The internal multi-channel processing unit extracts physical parameters including relative and absolute vibration, Smax, eccentricity, thrust position, absolute and differential housing expansion, and dynamic pressure. The speed inputs process signals from proximity probes, magnetic pulse pick-up sensors, or TTL signals, with support for fractional tachometer ratios.Internal digital processing includes digital filtering, integration, differentiation, and rectification to extract root-mean-square (RMS), mean value, true peak, or true peak-to-peak values.
It also performs order tracking for amplitude and phase, alongside sensor-target gap measurement. Configuration values are managed in either metric or imperial units. The Alert and Danger set points, alarm time delay, hysteresis, and latching functions are managed through software parameters and can change as a function of shaft speed.

Power Generation Industry
Measures radial shaft vibration and axial shaft displacement of large steam turbines, providing hardware-level emergency trip protection when thresholds are exceeded.
Petrochemical & Refining Industry
Collects dynamic pressure and vibration signals from bearing housings of million-ton scale ethylene cracked gas centrifugal compressors to track early rolling-element bearing damage.
Coal Chemical Industry
Performs speed measurements and Keyphasor® phase reference signal extraction for multi-stage, high-flow centrifugal air compressors in coal gasification air separation units.
Steel & Metallurgical Industry
Measures oil film thickness and static eccentricity of fluid-film bearings on blast furnace blowers and Top Gas Recovery Turbines (TRT).
Hydropower Industry
Installed on the upper, lower, and turbine guide bearing housings of vertical hydro-generator units to measure absolute swing (vibration) during operation.
Cement & Building Materials Industry
Collects absolute bearing vibration from high-temperature exhaust and induced draft fans in cement clinker production lines to prevent bearing seizure under extreme heat.
The following items must be strictly observed when using the VM600 MPC4 200-510-070-112. First, confirm that the on-site sensor type, measurement range, and power supply parameters perfectly match the card's channel configuration before wiring to prevent damage to the input circuits.
Second, during insertion, removal, or hot-swapping, ensure proper grounding and handle with care to avoid side-force damage to the miniature coaxial connectors.
Third, regularly inspect the front panel LEDs and the integrated "OK system" to troubleshoot cable breaks or connector contamination that could cause false machinery trips.
The MPC4 performs a self-test routine on power-up. The integrated OK system continuously monitors the connection lines, sensors, and signal conditioners to indicate transmission line breaks or faulty hardware. Front-panel LED indicators display processing or hardware errors, while six separate channel LEDs indicate the OK system fault status and active alarm conditions for each specific input.
This is a 4-channel machinery protection card manufactured by Meggitt Vibro-Meter for the VM600 system. It is primarily used for vibration monitoring and overspeed protection of large rotating machinery.
What is the core function of the VM600 MPC4 200-510-070-112?
Its primary function is to perform microsecond-level high-speed processing of parameters such as shaft vibration, axial displacement, eccentricity, and speed on-site, and to drive relays for safety protection when values exceed limits.
How to use and install the VM600 MPC4 200-510-070-112 on-site?
Insert it vertically into the front slot of a standard VM600 19-inch rack, and connect signals through the rack backplane to its associated input/output card (such as IOC4T) on the rear.
Why must a rear IOC4T card be configured when using the VM600 MPC4 200-510-070-112?
Because the MPC4 is strictly the logic and signal processing core; all physical wiring for external sensors and relay output terminals must be connected to the rear IOC4T input/output card.
What do the status indicator LEDs on the VM600 MPC4 200-510-070-112 signify?
Onboard LEDs including OK, ALARM, and DANGER indicate whether the card itself is functional, whether a channel has triggered an alert, or whether a dangerous trip threshold has been reached.
