A SIMATIC Micro Memory Card provides load memory, with capacities up to 8 MB supported by the referenced CPU execution. Up to 700 KB can be assigned to retentive data blocks. Program organization includes cyclic execution, timed interrupts and hardware or diagnostic events, allowing control logic and exception handling to be structured separately.

The X1 interface supports MPI or PROFIBUS DP, while X2 provides a separate PROFIBUS DP master/slave interface. Both support transmission rates up to 12 Mbit/s. X3 adds PROFINET over an integrated two-port Ethernet switch with automatic 10/100 Mbit/s selection. PROFINET IO controller and device functions can operate together within a correctly configured project. Isochronous operation is available on X2 DP or PROFINET IO, but not concurrently on both.
