VFDs vary the speed of an AC motor by varying the frequency to the motor. VSDs referring to DC motors vary the speed by varying the voltage to the motor.

        There are three main types of VFDs: AC input, DC input, and AC output. Once you have identified the appropriate VFD, you will need to identify the phase of your motor. There are three phases: A, B, and C. The phase of your motor can be identified by locating the two wires that have the highest voltage.
