The T8243 utilizes a Triple Modular Redundant (TMR) architecture, meaning every processing slice is triplicated to ensure fault tolerance. It features a Hardware Implemented Fault Tolerant (HIFT) design that performs continuous self-diagnostics and voting without interrupting the process.
The module provides 40 universal channels, organized into 5 independent power groups (8 channels each). Each channel can be configured for 4-20mA analog inputs, digital inputs, or digital outputs.
This allows a single module to handle a mix of fire detectors, gas sensors, and sounders. It is SIL 3 certified (IEC 61508) and supports Sequence of Events (SOE) reporting with 1ms resolution, which is critical for post-incident analysis. It also includes line monitoring to detect open and short circuits in field wiring.
Specifically designed for F&G zones, it can manage latching detectors by providing up to 5 programmable field device reset signals. This eliminates the need for external relays to reset smoke or heat detectors after an alarm.
T8243 works seamlessly with the T8842 Versatile Field Termination Assembly (VFTA). It is typically deployed in the oil and gas sector for Refinery Safety, Offshore Platform Protection, and Burner Management Systems (BMS) where high availability is non-negotiable.
Designed for harsh industrial environments, the module is built to withstand significant vibration, shock, and electromagnetic interference (EMI), ensuring reliable operation in heavy industrial settings.
