Horner Electric Isolated Analog Current Input Modules provide four analog input channels, with 14-bits of resolution. Two models are available, the HE693ADC420 with 1500VAC (RMS) isolation, and the HE693ADC415 with 500VAC (RMS) isolation. These isolation levels are channel-to-channel and channel-to-ground. The modules convert the current input signals to digital values which are placed directly into the %AI table of the PLC CPU. Each channel may be configured for an input range of 4-20mA or +/-20mA. Each of the four channels has a programmable setpoint, the level of which is set in the PLC program via four %AQ output registers. If the analog input value reaches or exceeds the setpoint, a corresponding digital input %I is energized. The first four %Is represent the four input channel setpoint alarms,respectively.

Twisted shielded cables must be used throughout connections to field sensors, such as two-wire or four-wire transmitters. The shield layer must be single-ended grounded at a common ground bar on the PLC cabinet side, and dual-ended grounding is prohibited to prevent new ground loops.
Due to the backplane bus characteristics of the Series 90-30 system, hot swapping is strictly prohibited during field maintenance. Backplane and external 24V power must be fully disconnected before removing or inserting the module to prevent permanent damage to the integrated backplane communication circuitry.

The HE693ADC415 delivers a continuous electrical isolation capability up to 500VAC (RMS). Its isolation architecture covers not only channel-to-PLC backplane circuitry (channel-to-ground) but also achieves full physical channel-to-channel isolation. This isolates common-mode voltage noise caused by multi-point grounding and prevents a short-circuit fault on a single sensor from spreading to the rest of the control system.
