The Bently Nevada 3500/92 Communication Gateway module (utilizing the 136188-02 rear I/O module) provides extensive communication capabilities of all rack monitored values and statuses for integration with process control and other automation systems using both Ethernet TCP/IP and serial (RS485) communications capabilities. It also permits Ethernet communications with 3500 Rack Configuration Software and Data Acquisition Software.The 3500/92 supports the communication interfaces, communication protocols, and other features from the original 3500/90 with the exception of the primary value Modbus registers. The 3500/92 now has a Configurable Modbus Register Utility, which can provide the same functionality originally addressed by the primary value Modbus registers.

When installing and maintaining the module, the front 136180-01 main board must be powered down or removed first, hot-swapping the rear 136188-02 module alone while the main board is operational is strictly prohibited to prevent circuit damage. For wiring, the RS485 terminals must be properly shielded and grounded to suppress field electromagnetic interference, and network cables must be kept within official distance limits. During software configuration, ensure that you accurately match the actual hardware I/O type (select the correct Ethernet/RS485 option) in the 3500 software and verify that the Modbus register addresses align with the host DCS/PLC, otherwise communication failures will occur.
