Overview Manuals Common Applications Product Precautions
The 330101-00-31-20-02-05 is the complete selection part number for the 3300 XL series 8mm eddy current proximity probe manufactured by Bentley Nevada, USA. It is an industrial-grade high-precision sensor primarily used to measure shaft vibration, shaft displacement, and rotational speed in large rotating machinery.
    • One 3300 XL 8 mm probe
    • One 3300 XL extension cable
    • One 3300 XL Proximitor Sensor
The 3300 XL 8 mm system delivers the most advanced performance in our eddy current proximity transducer systems. The standard 3300 XL 8 mm 5-meter system also fully complies with the American Petroleum Institute’s (API) 670 Standard for mechanical configuration, linear range, accuracy, and temperature stability. All 3300 XL 8 mm proximity transducer systems provide this level of performance and support complete interchangeability of probes, extension cables, and Proximitor sensors, eliminating the need to match or bench calibrate individual components. Each 3300 XL 8 mm Transducer System component is backward compatible and interchangeable with other non XL 3300 series 5 mm and 8 mm transducer system components. This compatibility includes the 3300 5 mm probe, for applications in which an 8 mm probe is too large for the available mounting space.

Power Generation Industry
Installed on the bearing pedestals of steam turbine-generator sets. Utilizing orthogonal X-Y probe configurations, it monitors the radial vibration (shaft orbit) of the turbine rotor and measures axial position (thrust float) at the thrust bearing.

Petrochemical & Refining
In million-ton ethylene plants, the cracked gas compressor train is the core asset. Probes are used to monitor the Keyphasor (speed and phase reference) and bearing vibrations of high-speed, turbine-driven centrifugal compressors.

Steel & Metallurgical Industry
Probes are installed on both ends of the blower rotor to monitor severe rotor unbalance vibration caused by high-temperature gas erosion or uneven dust accumulation on the blades. They provide early warnings before vibration limits are exceeded, preventing bearing burnout.

Hydropower Industry
Probes are installed at the upper guide, lower guide, and water guide bearings to measure the radial swing (shaft runout).

Pulp & Paper
Probes are installed at the thrust end of the core drive rolls to measure axial thermal growth in real-time, assisting the control system in adjusting thermal expansion compensation mechanisms to prevent gear misalignments and broken teeth.

When using the 330101-00-31-20-02-05 probe, four critical rules must be strictly followed. First, avoid overtightening during installation by using a torque wrench to prevent damaging the stainless-steel case. Second, precisely adjust the gap within the core linear range, typically setting the initial gap to -10 VDC by monitoring the Proximitor output voltage. Third, ensure physical protection by installing a connector protector over the couplings to completely isolate them from oil, moisture, and chemical contamination. Fourth, strictly match system length as this 2.0-meter probe must be paired with the correct extension cable and its designated Proximitor. Never cut the cable or mix components, as this will cause severe signal distortion.

FAQS

  • What is the primary function and application of 330101-00-31-20-02-05?
It is an industrial eddy current proximity probe used to measure shaft vibration, axial position, and speed of large rotating machinery like turbines and compressors.
  • What is the eddy current working principle of 330101-00-31-20-02-05?
The probe tip coil generates a high-frequency magnetic field. When a metal shaft approaches, eddy currents form on its surface, changing the coil impedance to measure gap variation.
  • How should 330101-00-31-20-02-05 be matched with an extension cable for a complete system?
Since it has a 2-meter cable, it requires a 3-meter extension cable for a 5-meter system, or a 7-meter extension cable for a 9-meter system.
  • How to properly install and adjust the initial installation gap of 330101-00-31-20-02-05?
Screw the probe in and adjust its position by monitoring the Proximitor output voltage (typically set to around -10 VDC, corresponding to a ~1.0 mm gap) before locking it.
  • How to check if 330101-00-31-20-02-05 is damaged or malfunctioning?
Use a multimeter to measure the resistance between the center conductor and the outer shield, the normal resistance (including the 2m cable) is typically between 5.0 and 9.0 ohms.
