The 21508-02-12-05-02 is a 7200 series 8mm non-contact eddy current reverse mount proximity probe, configured with a 3/8-24 thread, a 12.0-inch unthreaded shaft, and a 0.5-meter unarmored male coaxial trailing cable. Pushed forward through an external sleeve into space-restricted steam turbine or compressor bearing housings, it pairs with a Proximitor to convert shaft vibration, static displacement, and Keyphasor references into a standard 200 mV/mil linear analog voltage.
API 670 Compliance and System Compatibility
Static and High-Frequency Dynamic Dual Capture
Rigidity and Continuous Vibration Endurance
The 7200 5 mm and 8 mm Proximity Transducer Systems are noncontacting, gap-to-voltage transducer systems that measure static as well as dynamic distances between the probe tip and the observed target. The general application is any requirement for an accurate, noncontacting displacement measurement. However, the most common use is for shaft position and vibration measurements on rotating and reciprocating machinery. They are configured for use with virtually any machine type including gas and steam turbines, compressors, pumps, centrifuges, electric motors and generators. The systems offer 80 mils (2 mm) of linear measuring range and are compatible with API 670 requirements. A system consists of a probe with integral coaxial cable, an extension cable, and Proximitor®. All 7200 proximity transducer systems are compatible with 3300 and 9000 Monitoring Systems.

When using the Bently Nevada 21508 probe, precisely calibrate the initial static gap using dedicated sleeves, ensure the shaft surface is clean and free of residual magnetism to prevent electrical runout, strictly match it with 7200 Series cables and Proximitors, and guarantee proper connector waterproofing and single-point system grounding.
The Bently Nevada 21508-02-12-05-02 is a 7200 series 8mm non-contact eddy current reverse mount proximity probe featuring a 3/8-24 thread, a 12.0-inch unthreaded shaft, and a 0.5-meter unarmored male coaxial trailing cable. What is the Bently Nevada 21508-02-12-05-02 Proximity Probe?
It is an early classic 7200 Series 8mm non-contact eddy current proximity probe from Bently Nevada, specifically used for measuring static and dynamic gaps in critical rotating machinery.
What is the primary use of the 21508-02-12-05-02 probe?
It is primarily used to monitor radial shaft vibration, axial displacement (thrust position), and speed/Keyphasor references on rotating and reciprocating machinery to provide continuous data for machine protection systems.
How to correctly install and use products like the 21508-02-12-05-02?
Since it features a reverse mount configuration, it is typically secured from the inside of the bearing housing or casing, or externally tightened via a dedicated reverse mount sleeve. In use, its lead connector must connect to an extension cable and ultimately route into a 7200 Series Proximitor sensor.
What is the standard factory target material calibration for the 21508-02-12-05-02?
The factory default calibration is performed against AISI 4140 steel. If the actual shaft target in the field is made of other metallic materials, the output voltage curve may shift.
Can probes like the 21508-02-12-05-02 operate in a lubricant-filled environment?
Yes. The probe tip and lead-in cable jacket feature excellent industrial fluid resistance and fluid-sealing properties, allowing them to operate fully submerged in turbine oils or synthetic lubricants.
