Overview Manuals Common Applications Soft Starter Benefits
The 150-C30NBR is a smart motor controller and low-voltage soft starter manufactured by Allen-Bradley. This device belongs to the SMC-3 product series and utilizes a 3-wire connection configuration in an Open Type structure to manage the start and stop sequences of three-phase induction motors.
    • Compact footprint for reduced panel space
    • Easy and secure setup for process optimisation
    • Five start/stop modes to suit application requirements
The main circuit operates on a rated voltage of 200V to 460V AC at 50/60 Hz, with a rated control power supply of 24V AC/DC. It carries a rated operational current of 30 A for line connections and expands to 43 A when utilized with delta-connected motors.

The hardware configuration includes an integrated bypass contactor that alters the main circuit conduction path once the motor reaches full operational speed. It contains a microprocessor-based electronic motor overload protection system that gathers data via three-phase current transformers and provides an adjustable electronic overload trip via front-panel dials. Additionally, the unit incorporates rotary DIP switches for parameter adjustments, two sets of built-in auxiliary contacts for overload/fault and up-to-speed status signaling, and a status LED indicator to display operational conditions and fault types.

Water and Wastewater Treatment
Controls the soft starting of high-power submersible and centrifugal pumps to prevent "water hammer effects" from damaging pipelines during sudden shutdowns.

HVAC and Commercial Refrigeration
Manages the starting current of large chillers, cooling tower fans, and reciprocating compressors to reduce grid loads on plant power distribution systems.

Mining and Quarrying
Drives conveyor belts and light-duty crushers to lower mechanical stress during startup and extend the operational life of belts and gearboxes.

Metallurgy and Steel Industry
Controls the smooth start and stop of cooling fans, slag conveyor rollers, and water supply pumps in water-quenching systems.

Pulp and Paper Industry
Drives pulp agitators, paper cutter power shafts, and waste conveyor systems to prevent mechanical shocks during paper cutting and processing.

Plastics and Rubber Extrusion
Operates pellet mixing machinery, material handling blowers, and conveyor belts at finished product drop-off stations.
The 150-C30NBR helps reduce motor starting current, minimize mechanical shock, and improve overall system reliability. Compared with direct-on-line starting, the controller provides smoother acceleration, lower stress on driven equipment, and enhanced protection for motors operating in demanding industrial environments.
