SDCS-CON-1 is the control board for the ABB DCS500 DC drive family. ABB documents an 80C186 microprocessor and DC94L01 ASIC architecture. The board coordinates drive control, measurement, thyristor firing pulses, supervision, diagnostics and serial communications. Flash PROM devices D33 and D34 retain the system program and parameter values, while D35 stores application functionality and parameters. Static RAM retains fault and alarm messages using a 1 F backup capacitor. The board supports CDP310/CDP311 control panels and configurable internal or external I/O options. Compatibility must be checked by complete converter type, board revision, software, application program and installed option boards.

Back up parameters, application software and fault history before removal. Record the complete drive type, frame, board revision, software version, I/O boards, communication modules, field exciter, control panel and connector positions. Do not assume SDCS-CON-2, SDCS-CON-4 or a current-generation board is a direct replacement for SDCS-CON-1. Connector allocation, I/O voltage, communications, software, firing control and application functions may differ. A DCS500 modernization requires an as-installed engineering review, wiring and safety validation, parameter conversion, commissioning tests and confirmation of the selected ABB migration solution.
