Information
- Yokogawa AAI143-H00 S1 brings transmitter loop signals and supported HART variables into the FCS input/output image for use by the control application.
Base input channels: 16, 4–20 mA
Digital communication: HART on the AAI143-H design
Transmitter selection: Two-wire or four-wire setting by channel
For each channel, a setting pin selects a two-wire or four-wire transmitter arrangement. In two-wire service the module provides transmitter power, with at least 19.0 V at 20 mA and no more than 25.5 V at zero current, subject to the base-design 25 mA output-current limit. External wiring voltage drop must be included in the loop calculation. A Zener barrier cannot be connected to this module; an isolation barrier is required for the applicable intrinsically safe arrangement.
The AAI143-H design communicates with HART field devices and places analog data and HART variables in the I/O image. The FCS accesses that image for regulatory or sequence functions. The referenced HART implementation supports up to 16 devices and 32 HART variables per module; multidrop use is limited to input devices and does not support the analog value or burst function. Analog scan timing and HART-variable refresh are different, so control design must use the relevant update behavior.

Application scope: The following uses describe the supported base-design role. Confirm AAI143-H00 S1 against the installed host and configuration before replacement.
-
Process transmitter acquisition
Bring 4–20 mA measurements into the FCS for regulatory and sequence functions, using the correct transmitter wiring and channel configuration. -
HART variable integration
Use supported field-device variables through the I/O image. Account for HART refresh behavior separately from the analog scan. -
Two-wire loop integration
Supply and read compatible two-wire transmitters through the configured channels, allowing sufficient voltage margin for wiring and field devices. -
Redundant analog input stations
Use a supported matched pair and adjacent odd/even slots where the configured FIO system requires redundant HART-capable analog modules.
Confirm the per-channel two-wire or four-wire setting before connection. Do not assume the old and replacement module settings match.
Include field-wire voltage drop when evaluating transmitter supply. Preserve polarity and the correct source of loop power.
Do not connect a Zener barrier to the AAI143 design. Review an isolation barrier and the full intrinsic-safety configuration where applicable.
The analog update period and HART-variable refresh serve different functions. Verify each against the control application.
Use the approved matching modules and adjacent-slot arrangement when the system is configured for redundant HART analog I/O.
Check low, mid and high test points, channel scaling and the assigned HART variables before releasing the loop to service.

Technical notes
System relationship: Verify 4–20 mA signal type, two-wire/four-wire pin settings, polarity, transmitter supply and isolation-barrier arrangement.
Configuration boundary: The technical data describes the AAI143 base design. Match the complete AAI143-H00 S1 marking, style and installed configuration; do not transfer later suffix approvals or ratings automatically.

FAQ View All FAQ
-
What analog signals does AAI143-H00 S1 process? The AAI143-H base design provides sixteen 4–20 mA input channels with isolation between input and system.
-
What analog update period applies to the base design of AAI143-H00 S1?The analog data update period is 10 ms. HART-variable refresh is a separate communication process and must not be treated as the analog scan period.
-
How are two-wire and four-wire transmitters selected on AAI143-H00 S1?The AAI143 base design uses a setting pin for each channel to select the two-wire or four-wire transmitter arrangement.
-
Does AAI143-H00 S1 support HART communication? The AAI143-H design supports HART communication and makes supported field-device variables available through the FCS I/O image.
-
Can a Zener barrier be connected to AAI143-H00 S1?The AAI143 reference prohibits a Zener barrier. Use the appropriate isolation barrier for an intrinsically safe application and verify the complete installation.
-
What analog accuracy applies to the base design of AAI143-H00 S1?The reference accuracy is ±16 µA with an allowable input current of 24 mA. Apply the actual installed revision and operating conditions.
-
How should transmitter power be evaluated for AAI143-H00 S1?For the base two-wire circuit, transmitter power is at least 19.0 V at 20 mA and no more than 25.5 V at zero current. Allow for voltage drop in the external loop wiring.
-
What HART multidrop limitation matters for AAI143-H00 S1?The referenced HART implementation permits input-device multidrop connections only; analog-value transfer and burst function are not supported in that arrangement.
