The 330876-01-90-00-00 is a high-performance eddy current proximity probe belonging to the 3300 XL 50 mm Proximity Transducer System. It is primarily used for measuring differential expansion and rotor displacement in large rotating machinery, especially steam turbine generators, and provides a maximum linear measurement range of up to 27.9 mm even under harsh operating conditions.
7.0 bar pressure-tight
75 Ohm Triaxial High Temperature Cable
Extended Linear Range
The 3300 XL 50 mm Transducer System consists of a separate 50 mm probe, an extension cable, and a 3300 XL 50 mm Proximitor Sensor. The large diameter coil gives this system a maximum linear range of 27.9 mm (1100 mils), the longest linear range of our eddy current transducer line. This linear range makes the 3300 XL 50 mm Transducer System ideal for measuring the differential expansion (DE) or rotor expansion (RX) of large steam turbine generators that results from the difference in growth rates between the turbine rotor and the machine stator (casing).
The 3300 XL 50 mm probe comes in three case & thread configurations to physically replace all standard 7200 50 mm systems (including side and rear exit probes). The standard 7200 style mounting brackets are still available as accessories. In addition, a new bracket to adapt the probe to the 50 mm DE Integral transducer sliding mount base is also available. The Proximitor Sensor has a 0.394 V/mm (10 mV/mil) output that is identical to that of the 7200 and 50 mm DE Integral systems, which allows customers to upgrade without requiring any changes in the monitor configuration. When upgrading from previous systems, every transducer system component (probe, extension cable, and Proximitor Sensor) must be replaced with 3300 XL 50 mm components.

Thermal Power
Installed on large supercritical steam turbines to continuously monitor the differential expansion between the rotor and the casing during startup.
Nuclear Power
Used on high-capacity nuclear turbine generator sets to measure the massive axial thermal growth of the shaft in a high-temperature steam environment.
Petrochemical & Refining
Applied to massive ethylene compressors to track rotor thrust position while preventing high-pressure process gas or lubricants from leaking along the cable.
Steel & Metallurgy
Connected to blast furnace blowers and large gas turbine drives to monitor casing thermal growth under extreme ambient temperature variations.
Hydroelectric Power
Implemented on large vertical hydro-turbines to measure the axial hydraulic thrust and vertical lift movement of the main shaft during grid load changes.
Cement Manufacturing
Applied to large rotary kiln main drive shafts to trace slow axial drift and alignment metrics while resisting heavy dust and vibrations.
When using this probe, it must be strictly paired with the dedicated extension cable and Proximitor sensor from the 50 mm system (ensuring the total cable length matches the system configuration); mixing with other series is strictly prohibited. Due to the extra-large 50 mm tip diameter generating an extensive RF electromagnetic field, installation requires ample side clearance and a sufficiently large target shaft surface to prevent surrounding metal structures from causing signal interference or distortion.
Additionally, the initial mounting gap must be tightly controlled within the linear range (starting above 2.5 mm), and the ClickLoc coaxial connectors must be kept dry, clean, and securely locked to eliminate signal drift caused by oil or moisture ingress.
This product features a straight exit configuration with standard 1/2-20 UNF threads, where the main housing is constructed from AISI 304 stainless steel and the probe tip is tightly sealed with Polyphenylene Sulfide (PPS) polymer material. It comes equipped with an integrated high-temperature triaxial cable featuring a total length of 9.0 meters without a stainless steel protective armor, which embeds Bently Nevada's specific FluidLoc barrier substance to cut off the physical pathway for liquids to travel through the gaps between the inner wires and the jacket in environments containing high-pressure oil, water vapor, or acid and alkali chemical media. The product ends and internal junctions are equipped with ClickLoc miniature coaxial snap-on gold-plated connectors with a nominal characteristic impedance of 75 ohms, and its front-end large-diameter eddy current induction coil corresponds to a physical measurement span of 27.9 mm (1100 mils).
It is a Proximity Probe from the Bently Nevada 3300 XL 50 mm series. Featuring an extra-large probe tip diameter, it is designed for large industrial rotating machinery requiring an exceptionally wide measurement range.
How to correctly use extra-large diameter probes like 330876-01-90-00-00?
The probe must be thread-mounted onto the bearing housing of rotating machinery and connected via its coaxial connector to a dedicated 50 mm extension cable and Proximitor (such as 330877 and 330878). The initial gap between the probe tip and the target shaft must be strictly controlled during installation.
What maintenance does 330876-01-90-00-00 require during daily operation?
As a solid-state electronic device, it is virtually maintenance-free. However, technicians should periodically check whether the coaxial connector is loose or flooded with lubricating oil, and inspect the probe tip for mechanical rub damage.
If 330876-01-90-00-00 is damaged, can it be replaced by an older non-XL 3300 50mm probe?
Yes. Bently Nevada's 3300 XL 50 mm system components feature backward compatibility with older non-XL 3300 50 mm system components, allowing them to be directly interchanged without redesigning the mechanical mounting.
Can 330876-01-90-00-00 be used in hazardous areas with flammable gases?
No. Since its agency approval suffix is -00 (No Approvals), it does not possess explosion-proof safety qualifications for hazardous areas. For such environments, a model with an approval suffix (like -05) must be purchased and used with an intrinsic safety barrier.
