Overview Manuals Common Applications Product Precautions
The 330194-15-25-50-05 is a Bently Nevada3300 XL series 8mm proximity probe, specifically designed for harsh industrial environments requiring deep-hole mounting. This model features an extra-long 2.5-inch metal housing and a 1.5-inch unthreaded section, a design that allows it to reliably penetrate thicker machine housings or bearing boxes.
    • One 3300 XL 8 mm probe
    • One 3300 XL extension cable
    • One 3300 XL Proximitor Sensor
The system provides an output voltage that is directly proportional to the distance between the probe tip and the observed conductive surface and can measure both static (position) and dynamic (vibration) values. The system’s primary applications are vibration and position measurements on fluid-film bearing machines, as well as Keyphasor reference and speed measurements. The 3300 XL 8 mm system delivers the most advanced performance in our eddy current proximity transducer systems. The standard 3300 XL 8 mm 5-meter system also fully complies with the American Petroleum Institute’s (API) 670 Standard for mechanical configuration, linear range, accuracy, and temperature stability. All 3300 XL 8 mm proximity transducer systems provide this level of performance and support complete interchangeability of probes, extension cables, and Proximitor sensors, eliminating the need to match or bench calibrate individual components.

Oil Refining
Monitoring radial vibration of heavy centrifugal compressors by penetrating thick bearing housings with the long case.

Offshore Oil & Gas
Monitoring thrust bearing displacement of crude oil export pumps, using -05 approval for explosion-proof safety in salt spray environments.

Nuclear Power
Condition monitoring of main feedwater pumps, using the 5m integrated cable to minimize connectors near radiation zones.

Coal Chemical Industry
Axial protection for air separation compressors, monitoring shaft float to prevent major accidents from thrust failure.

Fertilizer Industry
Monitoring syngas compressor sets, using the PPS probe tip to resist chemical corrosion in high-pressure environments.

Large-scale Mine Ventilation
Predictive maintenance for main ventilators, monitoring vibration trends deep inside bearing boxes to prevent unplanned downtime.
When using the 330194-15-25-50-05 probe, special attention must be paid to its long-case physical characteristics and 5-meter system matching. First, it must be connected to a 3300 XL Proximitor with a rated length of 5.0 meters; never cut the cable to shorten it, as this will cause measurement failure. Regarding installation, due to its 2.5-inch long case, ensure it is screwed into deep holes vertically without debris interference, and use the voltage method to precisely lock the gap at the -10VDC linear center point. Meanwhile, verify that the target material is AISI 4140 steel and has been demagnetized to eliminate electrical runout. Finally, taking advantage of its -05 agency approvals, when installing in hazardous areas (such as nuclear or petrochemical sites), strictly follow sealing and shielding/grounding protocols for the junction box to ensure signal stability during long-distance transmission.

FAQS

  • What type of sensor is 330194-15-25-50-05?
This is a Reverse Mount Proximity Probe. It serves as a core component in industrial protection systems, used for non-contact monitoring of minute physical displacements in rotating machinery shafts.
  • How to correctly use 330194-15-25-50-05 for monitoring?
The probe is threaded into a bracket or housing with the tip facing the metal surface of the shaft. It transmits detected gap changes to a Proximitor, which converts them into voltage signals for real-time monitoring via instrumentation systems (such as the Bently Nevada 3500 system).
  • What is the physical principle behind 330194-15-25-50-05?
It utilizes the Eddy Current effect. The coil in the probe tip generates an alternating magnetic field that induces eddy currents on the surface of the nearby metal shaft. These currents change the coil's impedance, which maintains a linear relationship with the distance (gap) between the probe and the shaft.
  • What backend equipment must be used with 330194-15-25-50-05?
It must be paired with a 3300 XL Proximitor Sensor. The Proximitor provides the excitation current to the probe and conditions the impedance signal into a standard analog voltage signal (typically 7.87 V/mm or 200 mV/mil).
  • In what environment can 330194-15-25-50-05 operate?
It is engineered to operate in extreme temperatures ranging from -51°C to +177°C (-60°F to +350°F). Its encapsulation is highly corrosion-resistant, allowing it to remain submerged in lubricating oil or exposed to chemically contaminated environments.
