Overview Manuals Common Applications Product Precautions
The 990-10-50-03-00 is a 990 series integrated two-wire loop-powered eddy current vibration transmitter manufactured by Bentley Nevada. This device is primarily installed on rotating machinery such as industrial centrifugal fans, pump sets, electric motors, and small to medium-sized compressors to directly convert the micron-level dynamic relative vibration amplitude of the rotating shaft into an industrial-standard analog signal.
    • Integrated Proximitor Sensor requires no external unit
    • Test Input pin for quick verification of loop signal output, using a function generator as the input
    • Choice of DIN-rail clips or bulkhead mounting screws as standard options simplifies mounting
The 990 Vibration Transmitter is intended primarily for the original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) of centrifugal air compressors or small pumps, motors, or fans who prefer to provide a simple 4 to 20 mA proportional vibration signal as the input to their machinery control system. The transmitter is a two-wire, loop-powered device that accepts input from our 3300 NSv proximity probe and its matching extension cable (available in 5 m and 7 m system length options). The transmitter conditions the signal into appropriate peak to-peak vibration amplitude engineering units, and provides this value as a proportional 4 to 20 mA industry-standard signal as the input to the control system where machinery protection alarming and logic occurs.

Power & Energy Industry
Monitoring radial runout of small-to-medium auxiliary rotating machinery in power plants, interfacing directly with control systems via 4-20 mA signals.

Oil & Gas
Providing low-cost, high-explosion-proof-grade protection for power equipment at unattended outdoor oil and gas gathering stations.

Petrochemical & Refining Industry
Continuous explosion-proof machine safety monitoring for small-to-medium motors and pump groups in volatile, flammable, and explosive hazardous areas.

Iron & Steel / Metallurgy Industry
Interfacing vibration signals of heavy fans or water systems directly into a factory DCS under harsh high-temperature and high-vibration environments.

Paper & Pulp Industry
On-line monitoring of continuous production drive shafts under high-humidity, high-temperature, and chemically corrosive environments.

Pharmaceutical
Providing precise, EMI-immune vibration transmission for agitating machinery inside clean or high-risk explosion-proof workshops.

When using the Bently Nevada 990-10-50-03-00 vibration transmitter, the combined length of the probe's integrated cable and the extension cable must equal exactly the 5.0-meter total system length. Cables must never be cut or spliced, as this will severely compromise the accuracy of the 4-20 mA output. During installation, utilize the integrated base to ensure electrical isolation from the DIN rail, and strictly calibrate the initial static probe gap voltage between -9 Vdc and -10 Vdc via the terminal measurements. Furthermore, because this transmitter carries multiple approvals (Option 00), field wiring must fully comply with intrinsically safe installation standards, and the top stainless steel BNC connector must be used exclusively for temporary portable analyzer connections—it must never be wired as a permanent output for the 4-20 mA signal loop.

Technical notes

Technical notes

In terms of specific hardware specifications and parameter configurations, this device defines a full-scale relative vibration displacement measurement range of 0 to 10 mils peak-to-peak (approximately 0 to 250 µm peak-to-peak). Functioning as the core hardware for a standard 5.0-meter total system cable length, the unit incorporates a universal physical mounting attachment capable of both 35 mm DIN rail clipping and bulkhead backplate screw fastening. The internal hardware circuitry is factory-calibrated to match the total electrical impedance of this 5.0-meter loop layout, ensuring a highly reliable mechanical fixation and a specific measurement scale under severe industrial environment constraints.

FAQS

  • What is the 990-10-50-03-00 device?
It is a Bently Nevada 990 Series Proximitor Transmitter, specifically designed to convert the signal from an eddy current proximity probe into an industry-standard 4-20 mA current signal.
  • Is the 990-10-50-03-00 a transmitter or a Proximitor sensor?
