Overview Manuals Common Applications Product Precautions
The 990-05-XX-01-CN is a two-wire, loop-powered industrial vibration transmitter. Compatible with 3300 NSv proximity probes, it is dedicated to continuous radial or shaft relative vibration monitoring on rotating machinery such as pumps, fans, and compressors.
    • Non-isolated PROX OUT and COM terminals plus a coaxial connector to provide a dynamic vibration and gap voltage signal output for diagnostics
    • Non-interacting zero and span potentiometers under the Transmitter label supports loop adjustment
    • A Not OK/Signal Defeat circuit prevents high outputs or false alarms due to a faulty proximity probe or loose connection
The 990 Vibration Transmitter is intended primarily for the original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) of centrifugal air compressors or small pumps, motors, or fans who prefer to provide a simple 4 to 20 mA proportional vibration signal as the input to their machinery control system. The transmitter is a two-wire, loop-powered device that accepts input from our 3300 NSv proximity probe and its matching extension cable (available in 5 m and 7 m system length options).

The transmitter conditions the signal into appropriate peak to-peak vibration amplitude engineering units, and provides this value as a proportional 4 to 20 mA industry-standard signal as the input to the control system where machinery protection alarming and logic occurs.

The 990-05-XX-01-CN features a PROX OUT coaxial connector on the front panel for specialized machinery diagnostics, supplying a non-isolated dynamic transducer signal (200 mV/mil). This output connects to battery-powered or isolated field test equipment for local troubleshooting. Because the PROX OUT signal balances on the same electrical ground as the 4 to 20 mA loop, an external interface is required for connection to AC-powered test systems. The 990/991 Test Adapter conditions, inverts, and electrically isolates the transmitter's dynamic transducer signal, rendering it compatible with standard oscilloscopes and analyzers while maintaining loop isolation and system protection integrity.

Thermal Power Plants
Installed on the bearing housings of boiler ID fans, FD fans, feedwater pumps, and condensate pumps to continuously monitor radial shaft relative vibration, preventing rotor imbalance from causing shaft seizure or bearing wipe.

Petrochemical Refining
Deployed on the bearing sides of centrifugal compressors and intermediate product transfer pumps within explosion-proof shops to capture real-time rotor shaft centerline vibration, fulfilling safety monitoring in hazardous areas.

Iron, Steel and Black Metallurgy
Used on rotating shafts of blast furnace blowers, converter dedusting fans, and auxiliary hydraulic pump stations of hot/cold rolling mills to monitor mechanical fatigue vibration caused by high speed and heavy load.

Modern Papermaking Industry
Installed on the shaft sides of paper machine pulp pumps, slitter main drive motors, and drying cylinder vacuum pumps to monitor abnormal vibration increases caused by bearing wear.

Industrial Gas and Cryogenic Air Separation
Used in local junction boxes of megawatt-level air compressors and oxygen/nitrogen turbo-compressor packages to perform full-time closed-loop monitoring on radial shaft relative vibration.

Marine Propulsion and Engine Rooms
Serves as the local monitoring terminal for auxiliary condensate pumps and thruster main shafts inside engine rooms of ocean freighters or drilling vessels, meeting explosion-proof and ship vibration standards.
When operating the 990-05-XX-01-CN, strictly verify the physical range and unit designated by the -XX suffix, ensuring a proper match with the total electrical length of the 3300 NSv proximity probe system (typically 5-meter or 7-meter configurations).

The transmitter must be installed in an isolated metal enclosure away from high-power cables, with single-point shield grounding executed to suppress EMI. Maintain a stable loop power supply between 12 and 35 VDC via appropriate safety barriers. Finally, in hazardous areas, never open the enclosure cover or adjust terminal wiring while the circuit is energized.

Technical notes

Technical notes

The 990-05-XX-01-CN serves original equipment manufacturer (OEM) integration and routine condition monitoring for rotating machinery, such as centrifugal air compressors, small pumps, motors, and fans. It integrates a traditional Proximitor eddy current sensor and signal conditioning functions within a single module. This integration converts radial dynamic vibration signals from the machinery surface directly into an industry-standard 4 to 20 mA proportional current output. The signal connects seamlessly to a user PLC, DCS, or SCADA control system for routine machinery protection interlocking, over-limit alarming, and trending analysis.
