Bently Nevada Seismoprobe Velocity Transducer Systems are designed to measure absolute (relative to free space) bearing housing, casing, or structural vibration. The two-wire systems consist of a transducer and appropriate cable. The Seismoprobe family of velocity transducers is a two-wire design that uses moving-coil technology. It provides a voltage output directly proportional to the transducer's vibration velocity. Moving-coil transducers are less sensitive to impact or impulsive excitation than solid-state velocity transducers, which are inherently accelerometers with embedded integration electronics. Moving-coil transducers are less sensitive to impact or impulsive excitation and can represent a good choice for certain applications. Because they don’t require external power, they are convenient for portable measurement applications.

First, during routing, ensure the operating temperature remains within -40 °C to +85 °C, and never allow the cable to directly touch over-temperature, bare steam pipes. Second, the single-point grounding specification must be followed, meaning the shield layer is reliably grounded only at the monitor panel end while kept floating and insulated at the transducer head to prevent ground-loop noise. Third, the cable's bend radius in trays or conduits must not be less than 6 to 8 times its outer diameter, and it must be kept far away from inverters and high-voltage power lines. Fourth, when connecting to the velocity transducer's aviation plug, tighten it moderately and keep it clean and dry, and regularly inspect the sealing layer to prevent oil or water intrusion from shorting the weak signal.
