Overview Manuals Common Applications Product Precautions
The 330103-02-08-50-11-00 is a 3300 XL 8 mm reverse mount eddy current proximity probe manufactured by Bently Nevada. This device serves as a high-precision non-contact industrial-grade sensing element applied to precisely measure dynamic shaft vibration, axial displacement, and rotational speed or Keyphasor signals on fluid-film bearing equipment.
    • One 3300 XL 8 mm probe
    • One 3300 XL extension cable
    • One 3300 XL Proximitor Sensor
The 3300 XL 8 mm system delivers the most advanced performance in our eddy current proximity transducer systems. The standard 3300 XL 8 mm 5-meter system also fully complies with the American Petroleum Institute’s (API) 670 Standard for mechanical configuration, linear range, accuracy, and temperature stability. All 3300 XL 8 mm proximity transducer systems provide this level of performance and support complete interchangeability of probes, extension cables, and Proximitor sensors, eliminating the need to match or bench calibrate individual components. Each 3300 XL 8 mm Transducer System component is backward compatible and interchangeable with other non XL 3300 series 5 mm and 8 mm transducer system components. This compatibility includes the 3300 5 mm probe, for applications in which an 8 mm probe is too large for the available mounting space.

Thermal Power
Installing the probe inside an external explosion-proof sealed sleeve to measure the axial displacement of the steam turbine high-pressure cylinder rotor.

Petroleum Refining
Utilizing its reverse mount and FluidLoc leak-proof cable to block high-pressure, toxic rich gas from leaking outward along the cable lead-out wires, while monitoring main shaft vibration.

Nuclear Power
Securing the reverse probe onto an external sealed fixture to measure the oil-film support thickness of pump shaft fluid-film bearings under heavy loads.

Hydroelectric Power
Screwing reversely into a specialized fluid-tight sealed housing to measure the low-frequency shaft centerline orbit of the hydro turbine main bearing under large water head impacts.

Pulp & Paper Industry
Precisely measuring the vibration deviation trends of high-speed fan rotors through a reverse mounting hole outside a closed bearing cavity filled with high-temperature water steam.

Offshore Wind Power
Achieving rapid modular in-situ replacement via the reverse external securing structure inside offshore high-altitude nacelles where manual overhaul is extremely difficult.

When using the Bently Nevada 330103-02-08-50-11-00 reverse mount probe, the initial installation gap between the probe tip and the shaft surface must be strictly controlled via voltage calibration to prevent rotor collision, and the process interface must be tightly sealed to maximize FluidLoc oil-leak protection. During routing, the integrated stainless steel armor must be utilized for physical protection with a minimum cable bend radius of 25.4 mm. Furthermore, the 5.0-meter integrated cable must never be cut or spliced, and its ClickLoc™ connector should only be tightened finger-tight until it "clicks" when connecting to the companion sensor, strictly avoiding the use of tools for overtightening.

Technical notes

Technical notes

The 330103-02-08-50-11-00 possesses distinct physical dimensions and connectivity characteristics. This reverse-mount sensor features a 3/8-24 UNF imperial threaded case with an unthreaded length of 0.2 inches and an overall case length of 0.8 inches. Its body connects to an integrated 5.0-meter (16.4-foot) black flexible cable, which is internally filled with the FluidLoc leak-proof compound, and the cable end terminates in a coaxial ClickLoc connector with a pre-installed rigid protective sleeve. Within the field routing layout, this 5.0-meter integral length eliminates intermediate joint nodes, enabling a direct run to a 5-meter system Proximitor sensor, making it ideal for placement inside sealed protective housings where external clearance is extremely restricted.

FAQS

  • What is the 330103-02-08-50-11-00 sensor?
This is a 3300 XL 8 mm reverse mount proximity probe manufactured by Bently Nevada. It is a non-contact sensing element specifically installed inside internally threaded fluid-tight housings or brackets to monitor the precise movement of industrial shafts.
  • How do you use reverse mount products like the 330103-02-08-50-11-00 on industrial sites?
This product is screwed in from the outside of the machine casing or from the rear end of a specialized housing, aligning the probe tip with the shaft surface through a pre-drilled hole. Because it contains an integrated 5.0-meter cable, its end must plug directly into a 5-meter system Proximitor sensor without an intermediate extension cable.
  • What is the difference between the reverse mount of the 330103-02-08-50-11-00 and a standard forward mount probe?
A standard forward probe has its cable exiting from the rear of the case and is screwed forward as a whole unit during installation. A reverse mount probe features threads at the very front of the tip, leaving the entire probe body and cable outside, and is secured from the exterior of a conduit or machine casing, which simplifies on-site replacement in tight or hazardous spaces.
  • What is the core measurement application of the 330103-02-08-50-11-00 probe in equipment monitoring?
It is applied for non-contact precise measurements on fluid-film bearing machinery, including radial dynamic shaft vibration, axial rotor displacement, and can function as a Keyphasor sensor to measure operating speed and phase.
  • What is the operating principle of the 330103-02-08-50-11-00 sensor?
It adopts the high-frequency eddy current induction principle. The electrical signal from the Proximitor generates an alternating electromagnetic field at the probe tip, inducing eddy currents when a conductive metal shaft approaches the field to change circuit impedance, which the Proximitor converts into DC and AC voltage signals representing the actual physical gap.
