The 31000-16-05-00-071-03-02 is a 31000 series proximity probe housing assembly manufactured by Bentley Nevada. This device is specifically designed for monitoring shaft vibration and speed in industrial machinery, protecting the probe and allowing for clearance adjustment without stopping the machine.
All-Weather Environmental Isolation
Hazardous-Rated Cable Management
Precise 7.1-Inch Penetration Optimization
Use of a Proximity probe housing allows external access to the proximity probe and its extension cable, permitting gap adjustment or probe replacement without disassembly of the machine. The 31000/32000 Proximity Probe Housing Assembly is made of polyphenylene sulfide (PPS), an advanced, high strength, thermoplastic with excellent corrosion resistance. Other elements of the housing assembly are made of corrosion-resistant stainless steel. The housing can be ordered with installed 3300 XL Proximity Probes and a variety of conduit fittings. The 31000/32000 Proximity Probe Housing Assembly is fully compliant with the American Petroleum Institute's (API) 670 Standard for externally mounted proximity probe housings. When installed in conjunction with an approved transducer system and appropriate I.S. barriers, the 31000/32000 Proximity Probe Housing Assembly can be used in intrinsically safe hazardous area applications.

Thermal Power
Protects proximity probes measuring shaft vibration and axial thrust on main steam turbines and heavy-duty generators.
Nuclear Power
Encloses eddy current displacement sensors on primary coolant pumps to ensure non-stop machinery health monitoring.
Oil & Gas
Guards sensors on large gas turbine drives at pipeline compressor stations against extreme outdoor weather and desert sand.
Hydroelectric Power
Protects vertical shaft alignment and vibration sensors on hydro-turbines from high-humidity and water splash environments.
Iron & Steel Metallurgy
Shields sensors on blast furnace blowers and rolling mill motors against severe mechanical vibrations and high dust levels.
Liquefied Natural Gas
Houses proximity probes on cryogenic expanders and LNG pumps to prevent ice build-up and thermal shock to the sensors.
When deploying the 31000-16-05-00-071-03-02, ensure the 7.1-inch sleeve depth perfectly matches your machine’s casing thickness to prevent probe contact with the shaft. Techs must inspect the O-ring seals during routing checks to maintain its weatherproof rating, and always adjust the internal probe gap online before tightening the hazardous-area certified conduit fittings to avoid cable twisting.
