The 21504-00-08-10-02 is an 8mm standard mount proximity probe within the Bently Nevada 7200 series proximity transducer system. Utilizing the non-contact eddy current induction principle, this probe converts the physical gap variation between the probe tip and the measured conductive metal target, such as a machine shaft in power or chemical plants, into a voltage signal output.
Utilizing eddy current technology, it precisely measures shaft vibration and static displacement without any physical contact
Designed to universally recognized industrial standards, ensuring high safety and reliability for large rotating machinery monitoring
Highly compatible with Bently Nevada 3300 and 9000 monitoring systems and Proximitors, enabling easy upgrades and maintenance for legacy systems
The Bently Nevada 7200 Series 5mm and 8mm Proximity Transducer Systems are non-contacting, gap-to-voltage transducer systems that measure static as well as dynamic distances between the probe tip and the observed target. The general application is any requirement for an accurate, non-contacting displacement measurement. However, the most common use is for shaft position and vibration measurements on rotating and reciprocating machinery. They are designed for use with virtually any machine type, including gas and steam turbines, compressors, pumps, centrifuges, electric motors, and generators.
The systems offer 80 mils (2 mm) of linear measuring range and are fully compatible with API 670 requirements. A complete system consists of a probe with an integral coaxial cable, an extension cable, and a Proximitor. All 7200 proximity transducer systems are compatible with 3300 and 9000 monitoring systems.

Thermal Power
Monitoring radial shaft vibration of legacy 300MW/600MW steam turbine-generator sets to provide high-frequency mechanical trip interlock signals.
Petrochemical & Refining
Installed on fluid-film bearings of cracking gas compressors or hydrogenation reciprocating pumps to measure online axial shaft float, preventing cylinder damage.
Iron and Steel Metallurgy
Conducting uninterrupted monitoring of thermal expansion, axial displacement, and vibration orbit of blast furnace large centrifugal blower rotor systems.
Hydroelectric Power Generation Industry
Installed near thrust and guide bearings of vertical hydro-generator units to measure online main shaft radial runout under hydraulic loads.
Deep Coal Processing
Monitoring dynamic mechanical oscillation of rotors during long-term high-speed operation at the bearings of large high-pressure feedwater pumps in coal-to-liquids plants.
Large-Scale Modern Paper Mills
Connecting high-speed paper machine high-pressure press roll fluid-film bearings to track bearing clearance variations in high-temperature, high-humidity steam environments.
First, strictly match impedance and system length. As part of the legacy 7200 series system with a 1.0-meter cable, it must be paired exclusively with extension cables and Proximitor sensors of the same series, and mixing with newer models like the 3300 XL is strictly prohibited.
Second, precisely calibrate the initial gap. During installation, the initial Gap voltage must be monitored using a voltmeter to ensure the probe tip resides within the linear calibration zone, preventing static-to-dynamic rubs and probe damage.
Third, prevent mechanical scratches and thread overloading. The metal case thread length is only 0.8 inches, requiring strict torque control during tightening, and the probe face must be protected from oil hardening and scraping by metal debris.
The Bently Nevada 21504-00-08-10-02 is a compact non-contact eddy current probe from the 3300 5mm series, featuring a 3/8-24 fully threaded case (0.8-inch length) and a 1.0-meter cable with a connector protector. Specifically engineered for tight-space turbomachinery, it accurately converts shaft vibration and displacement into voltage signals and supports calibration-free component interchangeability.
It is a non-contact eddy current proximity probe from the Bently Nevada 7200 series 8mm family, designed for machinery displacement and vibration measurement.
How do you use the 21504-00-08-10-02?
Install it onto the machine bearing housing via its 1/4-28 UNF-2A threads, point the probe tip toward the rotating shaft, and connect the tail cable to a 7200 extension cable and Proximitor.
What are the primary measurement applications of the 21504-00-08-10-02?
It is primarily used for radial vibration, axial position, and speed/Keyphasor measurements on fluid-film bearing machinery.
Does replacing the 21504-00-08-10-02 require field re-calibration?
Yes. Unlike the newer 3300 XL series, replacing a legacy 7200 series probe typically requires a verification check and potential recalibration or adjustment of the Proximitor to ensure accurate linear output.
What happens if the tip of the 21504-00-08-10-02 is contaminated by metal debris?
Metal debris will interfere with the eddy current magnetic field, causing severe measurement errors or signal distortion, and may even cause the Proximitor output voltage to saturate.
