The 21000-28-05-15-050-03-02 is a high-reliability probe mounting housing assembly designed for extreme industrial environments. Made of robust, corrosion-resistant materials, it features a 5.0-inch (127 mm) penetration depth, providing physical protection and precise positioning for 8 mm reverse-mounted probes.
A probe sleeve of optional length
A thread seal
An optional standoff adapter
You can order hazardous area approved proximity probes with 21000 aluminum and 24701 stainless steel housings for intrinsically safe applications. Both housings are certified as CSA Type 4 enclosures and are fully compliant with the American Petroleum Institute's (API) 670 Standard for externally mounted proximity probe housings. The 164818 Compact Proximity Probe Housing is also available for applications with space restrictions. Ceramic capped probes are available with the 164818 housing. Sleeve length is determined by the location in which the probe and housing are installed. The probe lead must be longer than the sleeve. Sleeve lengths longer than 304 mm (12 inches) require additional sleeve support to reduce the vibration associated with unsupported long sleeve lengths. Bently Nevada offers a probe support and oil seal (part number 37948-01) for long sleeves that must go through an inner bearing housing. We also make custom sleeve supports.

Offshore Oil & Gas
Monitor the high-power mud pumps, water pumps, and turbine-driven compressors on the drilling platform.
Petrochemical & Refining
Installed on centrifugal compressors and large fans, it monitors the axial displacement and radial vibration of the shaft.
Thermal Power Generation
Used for monitoring the main shaft of steam turbines, as well as for feedwater pumps and induced draft fans.
Gas Pipeline
It is installed on the gas turbines and pipeline compressors at the booster stations along the pipeline.
Marine Industry
Monitor the main propulsion shaft, steering gear system, and side thrusters of large cargo ships or LNG carriers.
Air Separation
The expander operates at extremely high speeds, and the housing's stable locking mechanism prevents the probe from loosening due to high-frequency vibrations.
The 5.0-inch depth for this model is a fixed specification. The bore depth of the bearing housing must be confirmed before installation. If the internal structure of the machine has been altered or the shim thickness has changed, the 5-inch protective tube may directly impact the shaft, causing serious mechanical damage. Use a feeler gauge or monitor the output voltage of the preamplifier to set the initial gap between the probe end face and the shaft face. Typically, for an 8mm probe, the gap voltage should be set to approximately -10V DC (corresponding to approximately a physical gap of 1.27mm).
If the probe in 21000-28-05-15-050-03-02 needs to be replaced on site, which specification should be selected?
Based on option 28 (probe option) in the middle of the model number, this model is usually paired with a 3300 XL 8 mm probe.
What does
"050" indicates that the protective sleeve penetrates 5.0 inches (approximately 127 mm) into the machine.
Does the model number 21000-28-05-15-050-03-02 include a preamplifier (Proximitor)?
Not included. The 21000 series is a hardware enclosure component.
Does the penetration depth “050” (5.0 inches) of 21000-28-05-15-050-03-02 include the height of the external junction box?
Not included. The penetration depth "050" strictly refers to the distance from the starting point of the mounting thread (i.e., the surface of the machine housing) down to the end of the protective tube.
If the internal probe of 21000-28-05-15-050-03-02 is broken, do I need to remove the entire casing?
You can simply open the explosion-proof cover on the top of the casing, loosen the fastening nut, and directly pull out the internal probe for replacement or cleaning. No machine shutdown is required, and the internal seals will not be damaged.
