ABB SPFEC12 is a Symphony Plus HR Series analog input module that processes 15 high-level analog field signals. Each channel is independently programmable and uses 14-bit resolution.
- Channels: 15 independently configured analog inputs
- Resolution: 14 bit
- Current input: 4 to 20 mA
- Voltage inputs: 1 to 5, 0 to 1, 0 to 5, 0 to 10, and -10 to +10 VDC
The module accepts 4 to 20 mA current and 1 to 5 VDC, 0 to 1 VDC, 0 to 5 VDC, 0 to 10 VDC, and -10 to +10 VDC voltage inputs. ABB describes it for conventional transmitters and standard analog inputs, not FSK smart-transmitter communication. ABB documents NTAI05 as the termination unit that provides the signal path between 15 field inputs and SPFEC. The Harmony Rack I/O Expander Bus connects the module to compatible controllers within the rack architecture. ABB specifies typical power of 5 VDC at 85 mA, +15 VDC at 25 mA, and -15 VDC at 20 mA, with 1.1 W typical dissipation and 0 to 70 deg C ambient operation. Current Symphony Plus material positions AI12ev as the next FEC02/12 evolution platform while retaining NTAI05.
Important Notice: Do not merge SPFEC12 with IMFEC12, FEC12-1, AI12ev, or SPFEC11 as an alias.

Process transmitter acquisition
Collects pressure, flow, level, and other 4-20 mA transmitter signals.
Standard voltage measurements
Accepts the documented unipolar and bipolar voltage ranges.
Power and utility process I/O
Provides multi-channel analog acquisition in Symphony Plus HR rack systems.
Legacy rack I/O expansion and evolution
Supports installed Harmony/INFI 90 rack architecture with a documented AI12ev evolution path for the FEC family.
Read and follow the current ABB documentation and host-equipment instructions before work. Verify the complete physical nameplate and system configuration.
1
Verify the exact SPFEC12 nameplate and revision; do not merge with IMFEC12 or AI12ev.
2
Back up function-code configuration, channel ranges, scaling, alarms, and controller database before replacement.
3
Confirm NTAI05 wiring, channel polarity, current/voltage selection, shield grounding, and field power from approved drawings.
4
Do not connect a signal outside the documented range or assume HART/FSK support.
5
Follow ABB/site ESD and rack insertion/removal procedures and verify logic power before commissioning.
