Overview Manuals Common Applications Product Precautions
The 140471-01 is an input/output (I/O) module designed specifically for the 3500/42M preamplifier/seismic monitoring system. It is part of the 3500 machinery protection system and is used to compare observed data with predetermined alarm settings to ensure the safe operation of industrial machinery.
    • Supports Keyphasor/phase-reference signal input
    • Onboard high-stability transducer power supply output
    • Four independent input channels and one dedicated Keyphasor input interface
The 3500/42M Proximitor Seismic Monitor is a four-channel monitor that accepts input from proximity and seismic transducers. It conditions the signal to provide vibration and position measurements and compares the conditioned signals with user-programmable alarms. As an essential component of the 3500/42M Proximitor Seismic Monitor system, the 140471-01 Prox/Velom I/O Module with Internal Terminations serves as the dedicated physical interface for this advanced four-channel monitor. Positioned at the rear of the 3500 rack, it directly accepts inputs from proximity and seismic transducers, providing a secure and robust connection point.

Oil & Gas
Monitors the shaft vibration of gas turbine-driven centrifugal compressors in long-distance gas transmission stations, utilizing Keyphasor signals to analyze real-time speed and phase.

Thermal Power
Monitors the axial position of large steam turbine-generator sets, triggering protective trips via the mainboard if thrust bearing wear exceeds limits due to heavy loads.

Steel & Metallurgical
Accepts Velomitor sensor signals to monitor the absolute vibration of blast furnace blower casings and bearing pedestals, avoiding sudden shutdowns that cause blast furnace outages.

Nuclear Power
Used for rotational status monitoring of main feedwater pumps in nuclear conventional islands, meeting the extreme safety requirements for high-precision instrumentation in nuclear plants.

Pulp & Paper
Monitors abnormal vibrations of heavy-duty rolling element bearings in the dryer section of large paper machines, providing early warnings for internal bearing flaking or fractures.

Hot-swapping the rear 140471-01 I/O module alone while the rack is energized is strictly prohibited, the front 3500/42M main card must be powered down or removed prior to any replacement to prevent burning electronic components. During physical wiring, the shield wires of field sensors for each channel must be strictly connected to the designated SHLD terminals at the rack end only, never double-ground them in the field to avoid ground loop interference and measurement distortion. Additionally, integral screw terminals must be regularly checked for looseness caused by machinery vibration to prevent faulty contacts from triggering false protection trips.

FAQS

  • What is 140471-01?
140471-01 is a PROXIMITOR SEISMIC MODULE.
  • What equipment does the 140471-01 module mainly connect to?
It is mainly used to directly connect field Proximitor sensors and Velomitor sensors, receiving shaft vibration, axial position, or eccentricity signals.
  • How to use 140471-01 within the 3500 system?
The module must be inserted into the rear of the 3500 rack, pairing with the front 3500/42M Proximitor Seismic Monitor main board, with field sensor cables screwed directly onto its internal terminals.
  • How many input channels does the 140471-01 module support?
It provides 4 independent input channels to receive 4 sensor signals simultaneously, along with 1 dedicated Keyphasor signal input interface.
  • Does 140471-01 require an external independent power supply during use?
No. The 140471-01 draws operating voltage via the rack backplane from the 3500 power supply, and it also provides negative voltage (e.g., -24Vdc) to power the connected field sensors.
