Overview Manuals Common Applications Product Precautions
The 135613-01-01 is a DC high-temperature housing expansion sensor assembly manufactured by Bentley Nevada, USA. It belongs to the category of industrial-grade high-precision, high-reliability linear displacement measurement devices and plays a key role in the asset protection systems of large rotating machinery.

An important position measurement in Turbine Supervisory Instrumentation (TSI) is case expansion. Case expansion (sometimes referred to as shell expansion) is the thermal growth of the machine case as it expands during machine startup and on-line operations.  The case expansion transducer system is typically mounted on the foundation at the opposite end from where the turbine casing is attached to the foundation and provides information about the growth of the machine case relative to the foundation. Case expansion is a parameter that you should use a dual transducer arrangement to measure.  This arrangement provides information about the position of the sliding feet on the machine case.  A condition that obstructs or jams one foot could distort the case and damage the machine.  The dual case expansion transducer configuration in conjunction with the 3300 or 3500 monitors provides an alarm for this condition.  The high temperature dual case expansion transducer configuration is compatible only with the 3500/45 Position Monitor.

Thermal Power
Used for absolute casing thermal expansion displacement monitoring of bearing pedestals on large steam turbines in subcritical, supercritical, and ultra-supercritical coal-fired power generating units.

Hydroelectric Power
Employed in measuring slow mechanical displacement and structural deformation caused by seasonal temperature fluctuations or high-load operations on thrust bearing supports and heavy-duty metal housings of large pumped-storage or hydro-turbine units.

Nuclear Power
Used for casing thermal elongation measurement of high-power saturated steam turbine sets in nuclear power plant conventional islands, providing safety interlocks and casing sliding foot jammed alarms under large temperature differentials in non-core areas.

Air Separation
Employed in monitoring the thermal displacement of high-temperature stage casings on integrally geared multi-stage centrifugal compressor packages in large oxygen and nitrogen plants to ensure no mechanism jamming.

Petrochemical and Refining
Applied in monitoring casing expansion and alignment changes of driving turbines for large rich gas compressors and centrifugal cracked gas compressors in refinery catalytic cracking and hydrocracking units.

During the operation of the 135613-01-01, strict adherence to the following protocols is mandatory. First, you must perform initial stroke midpoint pre-load adjustments under cold conditions to ensure sufficient spring travel space and prevent internal bottoming or over-range damage. Second, signal cables must run entirely through protective metal conduits and never be routed with high-voltage power cables to eliminate voltage fluctuations caused by heavy electromagnetic interference. Lastly, regularly inspect the measurement rod for any movement obstruction caused by ash or debris, and verify that the conduit fitting is fully sealed to prevent steam or oil mist from penetrating the housing and causing short circuits.
