Overview Manuals Common Applications Product Precautions
The IC200PWR002G is a Power supply module that is part of the VersaMax product family, currently under Emerson Automation, formerly produced by GE Intelligent Platforms. This power supply module is a 24 VDC expanded power supply with input supply voltage of 18-30 VDC. It has an output voltage of 5 VDC and 3.3 VDC and total output current of 1.5 A, maximum specifically, 1.0 A, maximum at 3.3 VDC and 1.5 A, maximum at 5 VDC output.
    • It has dual-mode power supply adaptation capability
    • Precise total quantity interlock limit
    • 10 milliseconds (ms) of holdup time
The GE Fanuc IC200PWR002 expanded power supply module is used to supply power to backplane devices such as I/Os, CPUs, and NIUs. If connected to a network interface unit (NIU) or a central processing unit (CPU), the expanded power supply module acts as the primary power supply. However, if it is connected to the power supply booster carrier, the expanded power supply module acts as the secondary power supply. The IC200PWR002 module requires DC power for its output and input voltage. It has an output voltage rating of both 3.3 Volts DC and 5 Volts DC, and an input voltage rating of 24 Volts DC. The output voltage, both at 5 Volts DC and 3.3 Volts DC, determines the module’s output current and the current should not exceed 1.5 Amps. It has an extended power option, but no isolated power.

The GE Fanuc Versamax IC200PWR002 expanded power supply module has an input power rating of 11 Watts and a holdup time of 10 milliseconds. It also has an inrush current rating of 25 Amps at 30 Volts DC and one of 20 Amps at 24 Volts DC. The total output current of the IC200PWR002 expanded power supply module should have a maximum rating of 1.5 Amps. If the output voltage rating is 3.3 Volts, the output current will reach up to 0.25 Amps. If the output voltage rating is 5 Volts, the output current will reach up to 1.5 Amps minus the 3.3 Volts of the voltage that is used. It has dimensions of 49 millimeters (1.93 inches) x 133.4 millimeters (5.25 inches) x 39 millimeters (1.54 inches).

Oil & Gas Transmission
Deployed in block valve stations along pipelines to supply power to remote terminal units (RTUs), ensuring continuous pressure and temperature data logging.

Thermal Power Generation
Used in boiler auxiliary control panels to power digital input modules that track the status of limit switches, fans, and dampers.

Automotive Manufacturing
Integrated into assembly line conveyor control boxes to supply reliable 5V/3.3V backplane power for proximity sensors and pneumatic valve controllers.

Metallurgy & Steel
Installed in coking plant material handling stations to power remote I/O modules, resisting field voltage fluctuations during heavy machinery start-up.

Pharmaceutical Industry
Embedded in packaging machine control cabinets to power high-speed digital outputs, assisting in precise sorting and labeling processes.

Pulp & Paper
Placed in stock preparation control stations to power analog output modules regulating slurry flow valves.
When using this module, the 24 VDC input voltage must be strictly maintained within the 18 to 30 VDC range, and the combined total output current of the 3.3V and 5V rails must not exceed 1.5 A (with a 1.0 A limit on the 3.3V rail) to avoid prolonged overload. Because its negative terminal is internally tied to the housing, the module is incompatible with floating ground systems and must be connected directly to a frame or earth ground during installation.

Additionally, when snapping the module onto a CPU, NIU, or booster carrier, ensure the physical locking clips are securely engaged and that the operating ambient temperature never exceeds 60°C. Always completely isolate the input power before any removal, installation, or wiring maintenance to prevent electrical arcing.

Technical notes

Technical notes

The IC200PWR002G is an expansion power supply module with a 24 VDC nominal input, designed to snap directly onto any VersaMax CPU, Network Interface Unit (NIU), or booster carrier to serve as the main power source for an I/O station or supplemental power for larger applications. It accepts an input voltage range of 18 to 30 VDC and delivers dual output lines of 3.3 VDC and 5 VDC with a combined total current limit of 1.5 A, wherein the 3.3 VDC rail is allocated a maximum of 1.0 A. Regarding physical and safety specifications, the module features built-in protections against short circuits, overloads, and reverse polarity wiring, possesses a width of 49 mm, allows an operating temperature up to 60°C, and requires a direct frame or earth ground connection as its negative terminal is internally tied to the housing.

FAQS

  • What product is IC200PWR002G?
It is a 24 VDC input expansion power supply module from the GE Fanuc (now Emerson) VersaMax series, primarily used to provide electrical power to the PLC control system backplane and I/O modules.
  • How to correctly install and use products like IC200PWR002G?
It requires no additional cables and can be directly snapped onto any VersaMax CPU, Network Interface Unit (NIU), or power supply booster carrier. It establishes an electrical connection and begins supplying power directly through backplane pins to the underlying module.
  • What two different roles can IC200PWR002G play in a control system?
It can serve as the main power source for modules within an I/O station (when mounted on a CPU/NIU) or as a source of supplemental power in larger, dense I/O applications (when mounted on a booster carrier).
  • What built-in hard protection functions does IC200PWR002G feature?
It features built-in active blocking and hard protection mechanisms against short circuits, overloads, and reverse polarity wiring.
  • Why is IC200PWR002G incompatible with floating ground power systems?
Because the module's negative DC terminal (DC-) is internally and electrically tied to the housing, requiring a direct connection to frame ground or earth ground, making it unable to operate in a fully floating ground environment.
